Having similar no service GSM 3 issues in Aust. and also with Safari defaulting to previous search even after  iOS 8.02.

Hope Apple is listening and get their act together to fix this issue.

Also Apple next time don't bother us with upgrade etc. If this is the kind of experience we can expect!

I am trying to help my mother in law with her iPad2 that has both wifi and 3G service with Verizon. It was working yesterday until I updated it for the first time in months to the newest ios8.2 update. Everything seemed to go well. I handed it back to her (they live out in the country, hence needing the 3g wireless service) and she calls me up later last night and asks why she couldn't connect to the internet. So we drove out there last night to take a look. A few hours later I brought it back home where I have wifi and I get connection with my wifi. But instead of the top left corner showing that Verizon and the signal strength its showing "SEARCHING....." and its not moving like its actually searching. I have shut it down, nothing. I have held the power and the menu button down at the same time to restart, .... nothing. I had tried to do a iCloud backup.... as it was stating that it never had been done (probably true). It didn't complete (or wouldn't complete) and it popped this up on the screen.... "DATA PLAN ACTIVATION FAILURE - YOUR VERIZON CELLULAR DATA PLAN DID NOT SUCCESSFULLY ACTIVATE".

I REALLY DON'T want to mess anything up by setting it all back to factory settings..... hoping that APPLE does a new fix on this soon as my mother in law should not have to drive an hour to the nearest store to have this looked at if its due to the latest update. Very disappointing.

    This should do it:

hold Power and Home button at the same time, keep holding...., when you see the white apple logo appear let go of both.

let it start up, you will see "searching" (top left) coming up which means the simcard is trying to connect. When enough signal it will connect.

    In my former post:

"This should do it: Hold Power and Home button at the same time, keep holding...., when you see the white apple logo appear let go of both.

let it start up, you will see "searching" (top left) coming up which means the simcard is trying to connect. When enough signal it will connect."

I had to do it some times, the last time and no problems since, I took out the sim card and reinserted it first before the reset.

I had my iPad 2 loose the 3G connection today when it was asleep and NOT connected to WLan. Only a restart brought the 3G back. Still very annoying. This is the last iOS update I will ever do until at least a week after the release. I so wish I could just revert to the last iOS7 I had which worked great. I'm a Mac user since 1984 ... Apple, please fix this problem.

    Hi folks,

i share the same issue and frustrations with all iPad 2 users here. After reading this post and disabled FaceTime iiPhone Cellular Call, it didint help. I havent enabled iCloud Drive, but thought of checking it out anyway.

One strange thing happen. After I go to Settings > iCloud Drive, the No Service sign will quickly turn to Searching and soon my cellular service is back up and running. This leads me to think our issue is linked to iCloud Drive rather than FaceTime.

The No Searching issue will keep come back, but the work around of going to iCloud Drive to bring back the cellular works for me, rather than having to reboot the iPad everytime it happens. Hope this help other users, and fingers cross 8.1 solves this for us.

Facing the same issues since the update to iOS 8. Simply connecting my iPad to the Mac and starting iTunes brings back the 3G connection without any other changes. I use a t-mobile comfy card in my iPad (same telephone-number as in my iPhone). Could this be a reason for the connection drops?

In case it helps with bringing it to apples attention, my mother has an iPad 2 and exactly the same issue here. Attempted hard reset so let's see if that helps.
