Sep 25, 2014 10:43 AM in response to HvyMetalby Barry Hemphill,The 8.0.1 update has been withdrawn by Apple. Not all iOS updates affect all devices. For example, some affect an iPad, some all, and so on.

Sep 26, 2014 3:26 PM in response to HvyMetalby LittleJackie,Apple has abandoned all iPod Touch under 5th gen. All those customer who brought these Apple Touch when they cost $400 and more up were someone. Now we are nobody. I wonder if Billy Gate plan this for his company.

Sep 26, 2014 3:28 PM in response to LittleJackieby stedman1,Oh please! Your iPod is capable of doing today at least as much as it did when you purchased it. No functionality has been lost because a newer version of iOS has arrived.

Sep 26, 2014 4:46 PM in response to HvyMetalby endgame13,I don't think they take into consideration the 5th generation iPod Touch anymore. The latest updates and apps all support the newest iPads and iPhones but leave the iPod Touch 5th gen users behind. Even this new update has made mine become unresponsive with freezes and crashes on various apps. It's not just Apple though, even other developers are slowing down production of apps that support it. I've even had some apps be removed after I complete an update for it because it's not supported anymore. So stedman1 I beg to differ with you. My iPod is not as capable today as it was when I bought it and plenty of functionality has been lost, especially from many apps that I've purchased.

Sep 26, 2014 4:52 PM in response to endgame13by lllaass,The 5G iPod is two years old and its hardware does not support all the features of newer/updated apps. The same applies to other iOS devices like the iPhone 4S

Sep 26, 2014 5:00 PM in response to HvyMetalby irishjeff,I was told by a local Apple Store employee that the company was considering discontinuing the iPod line completely. I hope this is NOT true. I have the iPod Touch 5th Generation and I LOVE it! It has an A5 chip in it which makes it a lot slower than the newest and greatest. I think a lot of people will be disappointed if they quit making the iPod.

Sep 26, 2014 5:07 PM in response to stedman1by irishjeff,Actually this is not true. IPhones and iPod Touch with A5 chips and older are experiencing dramatically slower operations since updating to the new IOS 8. My local Apple Store said the new IOS 8 should not have been included for iPods and iPhone 4S and older phones.

Sep 26, 2014 5:09 PM in response to irishjeffby stedman1,You may note that my response was to a user complaining about NOT getting iOS 8. So I suspect it hasn't harmed their iPod.

Sep 26, 2014 6:11 PM in response to endgame13by HvyMetal,It's good to read something when people do understand. endgame13 I totally agree with what you just wrote. I to have been having issues since the recent update. It's just hard for me to understand as a company such as Apple. Can't seem to support every Apple product. Due to they seem to focus on the iPhone so much. They just assume that everyone has a iPhone. Even if I could get cell coverage in the remote area I live in. It wouldn't be a iPhone anyway.
What I was tying to point out by saying that Apple has totally abandoned the iPod. Since the iPod touch is around 2 years old. To me it stupid that Apple don't have the smarts to come out with a newer version. After all the iPhone gets a new model/version every year. I hope that Apple is not so stupid to discontinue the iPod line all together. That would be as dumb as coming out with a Watch.
Yes the iOS 8 update has effected my iPod touch 5thGen. As endgame13 has pointed out. I to have been having the same issues.

Sep 26, 2014 7:07 PM in response to HvyMetalby JEM24,HvyMetal, iOS 8.0.2 is out now. Fixes several bugs, slow operation and poor battery life are not on the list. I don't know about the talk of discontinuing the iPod touch models, nothing official has come from Apple; has the smell of speculation... It would be sad if iPod 5 was the last of the line. I was in line to get iPod 8 also, then I remembered the effect iOS 7 had on my iPod, so I waited, after seeing some of the issues, kind of glad I did. I plan to hold out as long as I can and hope Apple figures out a patch that works! But with iPhones and iPads being the new thing I and where the money is, things are looking a bit dodgy for the iPod. Hope I'm wrong! Hopefully 8.0.2 fixes your bugs, Cheers.
