I have the same issue. I updated and now my ipad 2 is a good paper weight. Stays in recovery mode and won't enable me to recover anything.
I left my Ipad charge overnight and this morning it accepted Ios8 and recovered all of my apps. I don't know what happened but this happened after two days of multiple attempts to restore.
They released 8 0 2 which has cleared a lot of the problems up. They must not have the money or time to beta test anymore.
