Q: Error 14 trying to downgrade to iOS 8.0 - iPhone 6

Hi

Is anyone else having trouble downgrading to iOS 8 from iOS 8.0.1 on an iPhone 6?

I waited overnight for OTA update but nothing so this evening 24 hours later tried to follow Apple's advice in restoring to iOS 8.0

I did everything as detailed and ended up with a "unknown error occurred (14)" now I have an iPhone without and OS let alone a Cellular signal.

Any advice out there?

Try to use iTunes on your computer to set it up as new device:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

Resolve iOS update and restore errors Here is some info. The downgrade seems to be working fine for most folks so maybe something isolated with your setup?

Hi Thanks all for your help

The phone is stuck in recovery mode. From what I've read it might be more to do with :

My iMac / MacBook and the hosts files. Although these are untouched from the original installs
or
My ISP blocking traffic to the activation servers?

Will update if I get anywhere.

Apple Care is closed

After 45 mins on to Apple Care online it would appear I have a hardware issue and need to have the device swapped out

Oh well I hope I don't have to wait too long.
