It sounds like you are losing internet connection intermitently, and the only way to get connected again is to turn your Wi-Fi off then back on. The next time that it happens, I would use the Wireless Diagnostics to help diagnose the issue.
I would also recommend taking a look at this article to help set up your router with the recommended Wi-Fi settings for Apple devices:

Thank you for the reply! A few weeks ago I put back my old router instead of my modem and since then it works so much better. When that solution fails I will use your articles!
