    It was meant to do something, but was pulled down from the network by Apple since they realised something was wrong with it.

     

    If your iPad is saying that you should install/update it, don't do it since it will be unable to update, and will cause a lot of hassle for you.

    Don't worry, within a couple of weeks, Apple should have fixed the bugs and they will re-launch it...then we can find out. Just be patient, they will bring it back out soon

    I installed 8.0.  Is this different from 8.01?

    iOS 8.0.1 was a patch for the iPhone 6/6+ to add the Health functionality that was planned but not working.  In the process it damaged the WiFi portion for the 6/6+ so was pulled a couple hours after release.  A new iOS 8.0.2 should be out in a couple days.

     

    If you have iOS 8.0 you have the latest release of that iOS.

    • Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
    • Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
    • Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
    • Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
    • Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
    • Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
    • Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
