Q: How can I install OS X 10.6 without a dvd drive (mac mini osx 10.4)
Hello. I'm trying to puzzle this one out. Here's the situation:
I have a Mac Mini 1.1 with OS X 10.4.11 with a broken dvd drive. I have just purchased an OS X 10.6 installation DVD and would like to get it up and running.
My system meets the requirements, having just upgraded to 2GB's RAM.
I also have access a windows machine running XP and hope to somehow transfer the neccesary data from the installation DVD to a 16GB flash drive, and so install from there.
The flash drive is formatted as fat32 at present so I should be ok with cross system recognition. The DVD is opening fine with the windows installer and is giving me two options:
'Remote install Mac OS X'
and
'DVD or CD sharing'
If I choose the flash drive as the destination drive for the install then these should both work.
Question is: what do they do?
Anybody have any suggestions?
