Sep 25, 2014 6:28 PM in response to bpgfby Barney-15E,I’m not sure how to do that unless the send button is outlined.
You can turn on “Full Keyboard Access” in the Keyboard system prefs which will allow you to hit buttons with the spacebar. However, I tested mine and the send button can’t be highlighted.
Have you installed anything that would modify Mail?
Can you test in another account, like Guest (you’ll have to set up an email account temporarily)?
Possibly a restart will fix it.

Oct 9, 2014 11:05 AM in response to Barney-15Eby bpgf,Thanks for your suggestions Barney-15E; however, I found through trial and error that my problem is exclusive to the function of checking spelling before sending. I have changed my spell-check to while typing (Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Check Spelling > While Typing).
I always have "Check Grammar with Spelling" and "Correct Spelling Automatically" checked.
Then, before I start a message I open the Spelling and Grammar box (Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar) and everything works just fine. If I have to do any other editing of my message I can do so without fear of accidentally sending it off prematurely when I use my spacebar or return key. (I forgot to mention the return key in my previous post.) If I do have to do any other editing, I just go back to Edit > Spelling and Grammar and click Check Document Now.
I'm still puzzled but at least I have a workaround that is easy enough for me.
Thanks again for responding to my post.

Oct 30, 2014 1:34 PM in response to bpgfby Suziesue,Thanks for this,
I have changed the settings now and I guess this will work, I just have to re train myself not to hit send but to open up spell check every time you write an email, which for me as automatic to click send then get the spelling options. Appreciate your help with this, My spelling is appalling !!!

Oct 30, 2014 8:27 PM in response to Suziesueby bpgf,Yeah, it would be great if spell check worked smoothly and automatically like it used to, but I'm glad my multi-step "solution" worked for you.

Mar 24, 2015 7:36 AM in response to bpgfby mlittlef,I have this same problem and it is very annoying and sometimes embarrassing since a correction is only half done and off goes the email. The "problem" seems to be embedded in the Mail.app. Does Apple pay attention to these posts or is it just the users?

Mar 24, 2015 9:17 AM in response to mlittlefby Eric Root,Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.

Jul 5, 2016 10:13 AM in response to bpgfby beechpark,I've had this problem too but it only started when I hid the little floating spellchecker window. Keep that onscreen and I bet your email won't send when you hit spacebar (once anyway).
