iPhone 5c won't turn on after iOS 8 update

iPhone 5c won't turn on after iOS 8.0.1 update. I've tried connecting to iTunes, but that won't detect the device either. All I have is a weird illuminated symbol on my phone indicating that I should connect to iTunes. Any suggestions?
