OneNote for Mac - Backup Solutions Needed

Upon installing Microsoft OneNote for Mac, the software client automatically saves all OneNote files in the cloud with OneDrive. Is anyone aware of how one might save a backup of these files to a local or alternative cloud location (e.g. iCloud or Google Drive) for safekeeping? As it stands now, OneDrive will not allow a user to copy the OneNote files to another location, nor will it allow a user to move the files to a non-OneDrive location. Additionally, there is no option available on the client to export within the native file format (or export at all, frankly).

The best backup method as of this moment is to email yourself each and every note created in OneNote. In addition to being tedious, it wholly lacks in anything resembling security for the note contents.

Left as is, the only copy of all content created and saved in OneNote for Mac is saved on OneDrive. It goes down, all content is lost for all intents and purposes.

If someone has figured out a way to overcome this issue (other than moving to another software solution or using Windows), I'd really like to know.

Thanks!

If I put any files manually like drop box then it works fine with mirror image, but not the files from OneNote.

I followed your suggestion, Microsoft does put a short link what applies to OneNote, here it is from support. And no one found a solution.

@Raicya Growly Notes are great, but do not have the iPhone version, therefore it will not work for me as I need a mobile app. That's why I am still using OneNote.

One way to solve the back up issue, is if bunch of users would email Microsoft with a back up request. I would not mind if they make a paid version of the application if they need a budget for the modification.

Notes are a standard part of iOS. they are on all phones (and they are far superior to evernote)

iOS is using yellow font for links, emails and phone ##, are you aware of it? If you are not, please go to see an eye doctor. I can recommend one, who suggested Evernote. He said its not good to strain your eyes.

I asked Apple why the links and phone # are yellow, not blue, like the standard link color. The support admitted that its hard to see in bright light, and suggested to write to Apple development team.

I seldom use notes, because they are not as powerful as other applications. Maybe you should go online and suggest to 127 million Evernote users that they are using junk, LOL!!! So tell me a few advantages of your iOS notes over Evernotes or Onenote. Maybe it will convince me to go back to notes.

Power of Evernote, that you can store things like tips, tutorials, licences, etc, etc.

The web statistics:

"In June 2012, Evernote announced it had 34 million users of whom 1.4 million were paying customers, up from the 25 million and 1 million announced in May 2012."

PS. Just read in 2014 Over 100 Million users

I can see that your tasks of notes are very limited. You are using for something quick, that I would normally use my memory. 135, million people are using Evernote for complicated tasks and for things they want to store for a short and a long time. Including interviews, photos, videos, tutorials with illustrations, which in my case the use of advanced Photoshop CC tutorials, logins, PDF documents plus million other things. The search in Evernote is great, it even finds words in PDF document and displays it.

You are saying that Evernote is junk, because you probably did not give a chance and did not go through the tutorials. . Maybe you should give it another try, and be one of the millions that love Evernote.

Here is the yellow font, that its hard to see, there is a link that you can connect, but many times people ask me for the information and if I am outdoors I can not see a thing, especially in the sun!

Use something else if Notes offends you, there is plenty of choice

I just downloaded OneNote and was pretty unhappy that "requires Microsoft account" isn't prominent in the description. I have no intention of signing up for a Microsoft account, or OneDrive, or any of that. What you have described sounds like a horror story to me. I don't know why this app gets such great reviews -- there are many others that don't force this kind of hoop-jumping. Thank you for saving me from committing any of my data!
