how do i fix my iphone activation?

i am trying to update my iphone 5 but it requires me to sign i so i did and i says incorrect ID or password so i dont know whats the problem. Do i need to get a new phone or what? also this happen after my parents did a license transfer on the account so i had to make a new account with the same email again. so im not sure whats the problem is.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1, trying to update to ios 8
