Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update. My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity. When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours. I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi. Ridiculous. Apple really needs to get it together. This is the worst OS release yet.

I managed to fix the issue but having to manually setup my router manually but totally agree with you when saying it's not the router fault, It's apples fault in configuring the Iphone 6 in a way which doesn't respond to most routers, Pretty upset about it because my iphone 4 works perfect yet the ipads and the iphone 6 was intermittent, Apple will tell you to change wpa settings ssid and all that crap you shouldn't have to do that at all it's not fair.

..exactly - and my cell network fluctuates wildly here - from ok to very low 3g, down to gprs. Hence me wondering whether weak/fluctuating cell network strength has a bearing...but then that would only explain why it seems to last longer without the cell network on, but the problem doesn't go away entirely. But with so many wifi hotspots etc theres NO WAY Apple should have made anything other than a universally accepted piece of hardware/software....do we still think its software??

Janie, I do think it's software because I have had 2 brand new phones, with the exact same problem, even though one was set up as a restore and one was set up as brand new. Also, many people have gone through multiple phones with no relief, so I have to believe it is software related, especially because it has hit several ipads, too. Not to mention that people with older phones are suffering, too!!

I would like to add this, too. When my phone goes through the worst of its wifi trouble, it also exhibits other strange behavior. To be specific, the phone will start launching apps BY ITSELF without me touching the screen. For instance, it opened the Notes app (which I have never used before), then opened the phone app. Then, when I got that shut down and tried to open FB, it went straight into the first post that popped up and clicked "like" WITHOUT ME MOVING A FINGER. It then asked if I wanted to switch keyboards and looked like it was about to enter a comment! I swear this is the absolute truth. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Lol. OK, since someone else brought it up... Whenever a Facebook notification pops up, no matter if I'm in another app or just on the main screen, it makes the keyboard pop up. I had to hide the keyboard every time a notification came through. So I had to turn off notifications. It was very weird. I'm also getting the double first letter when I type into a field. (That's documented and I read a fix is in the next release...). Anyhoo, just a weird problem I've had since moving from 7.12 to 8.02. That is along with my really really slow wifi connection / performance, which I seriously hope will also be addressed in the next iOS release.

I've been having the disconnection / slow wifi issues since updating to IOS 8.0.2 and read umpteen posts with possible fixes and tried all With no sucsess.

Some saying its software some say hardware some say router.

I've just set up a wifi hot spot on my MacBook Pro and connected my iPhone 6 to that hot spot.

So far, no drops in speed or complete disconnections from wifi.

To which, I think the problem is software related as my old router coped really well with everything I threw at it but it's strange how this new connection is staying on and constant.

For me set up as new phone did not work. After having the wifi disconnection problem with my iPhone 5S since upgrade to iOS 8, I tried to set up my phone as new today. At the moment I am only on half the way to get all my apps and mail accounts back and working and I just noticed that the phone has switched itself off the wifi to 3G cellular. When going to settings, it shows the wifi network available, but it just sits there on 3G and waits for me to select the network manually. So something causes it to switch to cellular 3G and and it does not switch back. So to use wifi, I have to continue to switch off the cellular data. This is really annoying

Just to share

I compared my 5s with my friend's using same ios 802 and i saw that my friend's did not have wifi problem.

When i checked the settings, the only difference was the cellular data was set to "OFF"

Then i tried to disable my cell data too and i felt the wifi was as good as my friend's

Then i reset setting in cellular data and i felt better wifi too (maybe temporary, still testing)

So in summary i suspected that somehow wifi was in conflict with the cellular data

If thats true please someone to inform apple about this to speedup the fix

Thanks

Sorry for my bad english
