Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update.  My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity.  When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours.  I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi.  Ridiculous.  Apple really needs to get it together.  This is the worst OS release yet.

I've owned all iPhone models (3, 4, 5 and now 6). I must say that the iPhone 6 is a piece of s***!

I never had problems connecting to my home wifi network with the previous models, but the new iPhone 6 constantly drops out of my wifi network and I cannot do anything with it without having to use the AT&T data plan when I am at home!

I found out that SEVERAL other iPhone 6 owners are having the same issue! Some guy suggested that we need to use WPA or WPA2 setting and NOT WEP in order for the iPhone 6 to work. I agree with this because my office wifi network uses WPA and the iPhone 6 seems to work ok with the wifi.

I think this is a very poor job by Apple in testing their products! Their iPhone should work with ALL wifi settings and not just one!

Apple now only wants to make more money by releasing their products quickly and, as a result, did not test their products carefully.

We, the consumers, end up with a piece of s**t!

As I stated, the wifi encryption being used is not the solution to the problem. Any "fix" is either coincidental or temporary. Others, like me, continue to have the problem even when using WPA or WPA2. Think about it, can you change the security encryption settings on a public wifi hotspot? Nope. So, as with previous models (and with just about any hardware that uses wifi) encryption should not keep it from connecting unless it is dinosaur device that uses early wifi. Also, as somebody has pointed out, it is not the device, as all devices that updated to iOS 8 are having the same problem.

Go to this link in YouTube and you can resolve Wi-Fi problems until Apple gets it in an update ... This is only a temporary fix for you and only addresses the Wi-Fi issues ....

Just adding to the list of complaints.  All weekend I had connectivity issues with wifi on my iphone 5s.  I sit about 5 feet from my wireless router, so I know that's not the problem since I was watching Netflix on my tv (wireless) without any issues.  Everything on my phone was loading very slow or I had to reload webpages because the signal was switching from wifi to cellular and back again.  Pretty annoying when you're in the middle of something that requires the internet.  I'd have to manually go out of whatever app I was using to select my wifi network over and over throughout the day.  Or I would swipe from the bottom and turn off the wifi button, then i'd turn it back on to get it to automatically search for my network.  Apple, you need to address this, IMMEDIATELY.  This is costing me money because your "bugs" are causing me to use data instead of wifi.  Also in this update, you have taken away the status bar at the top of the screen when in landscape mode, so I'm not even sure when my wifi disconnects without swiping from the top.  If it was just inconvenience, then I could deal with it, but not when your screwup is going to cost me money.

To address the battery issues, I noticed Saturday that my phone drained significantly faster than usual like others have stated.  I can typically make it throughout the day with pretty significant usage as long as I don't have the screen at full brightness.  I had the brightness level less than 50% and my phone died within 2-3 hours.

I too tried restarting my phone over and over, but that didn't solve the problem, which makes sense now that I'm reading all of these complaints.

SInce updating to ios 8.0.2 on friday, i have had nothing but problems with both 3g and wifi connections where apps and Safari are working very slowly if at all.

This is both on my own iphone 5 and 3rd gen ipad. I have reset and rebooted everything possible including my router but it makes no difference.

Also battery life is an issue and under bormal conditions was reducing 100% faster than normal, even dropping 4% in 1 minute with nothing open.

Use this video to resolve most if not all of your Wi-Fi issues until Apple gets another update finished. It resolved all of my issues dealing with Wi-Fi.

Maybe let me say that i have an evidence for this statement. i have iphoene 5s 16 gb and also ipad mini 64 gb wifi only. The wifi issue talked on the internet only impact my iphone 5s, otherwise my wifi only ipad mini has no Wifi issue. And as i have said that by turning on off cellular data manually will solve your wifi issue when you are connected to wifi.

ios 8.0.2 seems to ruins the system to determine which conection it connected to, wifi or cellular data. So the best hint is by turning on and off your cellular data manually depends on when you are connected to wifi or not

That is not completely true as I did that with my Iphone 5 ... still couldn't do anything with uploading, downloading or updating APPS. Everything else worked fine on Wi-Fi with Cellular still turned on.

EXACT same issues here. The following DID NOT work for my iPhone 6:

    -Turning phone Off/On

    -Reset Network settings

    -Turning off Privacy>Location Services>System Services>WiFi Networking

-Clearing Safari>Clear History and Website Data

-RESETTING the iPhone 6, Restoring and Syncing

Don't waste your time doing these. Have spent too many hours attempting to fix what only Apple can do right now.

This is affecting my Ipad Air... instead of fobbing everyone off with yet more updates - why don't they make IOS 7 available in the meantime?
