Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update.  My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity.  When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours.  I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi.  Ridiculous.  Apple really needs to get it together.  This is the worst OS release yet.

    Ditto.  But I was able to do same thing by just resetting network settings.

    My iphone 6 ios 8.0 has this wifi problem too, I need to reboot the phone when this happens or use cellular. Also got a bug with the device orientation toggle button in the control center; sometimes it's toggled off in the control centre but screen will stay lock in landscape or viseversa ... Though re-toggling the device orientation lock from off to off seemed to do the trick. Ha ha

     

    Anyways I don't see a good reason to update to iOS 8.0.2, if it doen't resolve anoying bugs like these two i stated above..

    I am also having network connectivity issues with IOS 8.2 on wifi with IP5 and Ipad2.

     

    just the latest in apple upgrade problems.  its becoming the sop for IOS.  As a stock holder and long-time user, am sick of the increase in problems that result  with each upgrade.

     

    it will be a long time before I think about upgrading to IP6.

    I had the same problem with my iPad4 and iPhone5 when I upgraded to iOS8.0.2 at home connecting to a Netgear router. Both devices connected to my work WiFi network without any issues.

     

    Upgraded my iPad4 to iOS8.1 Beta. Still the same problem at home. My friend suggested that I reboot my router. I did that and now both devices are connecting to my home WiFi.

    even in my iphone 5s has a CRAP CELLULAR SIGNAL!!!

    Me too. My iphone 5s is completely useless after downloading 8.0.2 release.  This will more than likely be my last iphone!  Using my Android tablet to communicate,  ridiculous to have a dead phone that I've only had a month!  Very upsetting and feel like Apple doesn't care.

    Nothing in the previous 18 pages have made my wifi work on my Ipad 2.  The phone works fine iphone 5.  Definitely not getting the 6 after reading people losing their connection to.  Wished that I had never signed up for ios 8.0.  Last nights 8.02 was a freaking joke.  That update DIDN'T fix anything actually made it worse.  I know one thing that when and if Apple fixes this I will NEVER update anymore stupid updates.  My Ipad was working like a machine and now it useless.

    The fact that Apple keeps denying the issue is just salt on an open wound. I'm curious as to how long and how many different ways they can pretend they're not aware of this crippling bug. The constant "you're holding it wrong" answers apple support keeps giving ppl is infuriating and unacceptable.

    and I turned my 5.0GHZ wifi to "n" only and it all works fine now. WIll test it with 8.0.2 again and report back

     

    all my "b+g" needs are with a 2.4GHZ wifi signal.

    I was having drop outs on ios 8.0 and problem continues with 8.0.2. The DNS fix worked temporarily but then last night the Wi-Fi signal dropped out again and could only find the 5GHz connection that I usually connect to. I had to reboot the phone for it to work again.

     

    I've read on other forums and they have said that the issue relates to ios 8 and 5GHZ networks. Is anyone having exactly the same issues when connecting to a 2.4GHZ connection?

     

    People have had their iPhone 6 and 6 Plus's replaced but the issue still exists which leads me to think its definitely an ios 8 issue and needs an update from apple.

     

    Reminds me of the compass calibration issue that occurred with the 5s last year and two weeks later was magically fixed with an update.

     

    Any comments  / thoughts welcome!

    i have tried  both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on my airport extreme & airport express router still can't solve wifi issues on my 5s iPhone

    Same here.  There was absolutely nothing wrong with my iphone 5.  Bought the 6 because I was eligible.  Next time I'm going to wait for the OS to be tested and all updates to prove stable.  My 6 was fine until I updated to 8.0.2.  Getting knocked up Wifi at my gym constantly.  Home network seems fine but maybe thats because I have an airport extreme.  Internet lags now and messages take way longer to send over Wifi.  Very disappointed.  Also Facebook app crashed 3 times on me yesterday.  My wife just got a Samsung Galaxy s5 and I'm jealous.

     

    This may be it for iphones for me unless apple comes out with fixes soon.  ios8 is crap so far.

    Been doing a poll on macrumors (cannot do polls here, my attempt was deleted by Apple hmmm)

     

    Anway it appears about 20% of users responding have had issues with iphone 6's, most have had issue with 8.0.0 and problems not fixed maybe worse in 8.0.2.  But 80% did not and that was my experience with my iPhone 6 plus worked fine with 8.0.0 and better for me with 8.0.2.

     

    5% of iphone 5 users having problems with iOS 8.0.x.  A small percent of ipad users having issues.

     

    From what i am reading I am surmising several issues.  The complexity of router configurations/hardware that apples growing iOS devices has to work with is growing and that issue. Just like Microsoft having to deal with variable hardware and its OS's now apple in terms of IOS is seeing same kind of issues.

     

    Given that more iPhone 6's are having issues (20% give or take in my little sample poll so far)  I think as someone here or elsewhere mentioned the new WIFI chip on this new phone is causing problems and when a router configuration/hardware not compatible with new capabilities and settings (often tied to what iOS 8.0.x does).  But 20% having problems is not nice especially if you are one of those folks.  I am not sure how apple can overcome testing more router configurations and settings but they need to figure this out in beta testing. I think they need a bigger hardware and combined iOS testing program (I will volunteer ha ha if I get my hands on new tech he he).  I am not sure how microsoft deals with all the variables as it has alot of its own issues but this is not good for apples current customers and new ones as well.

     

    I see a mix of new and old customers with issues, and this is not acceptable.  I suppose some of the later can be chalked up to inexperience with iOS, and the setup of home routers (heck I see lots of ones people do not even protect, rename in otherwords they plug in and mostly go)  but apple just having things that "just work" is ending as it expands into hardware variables and how they work with iOS.

    Interestingly enough with my iPhone 6 plus I was able to use fine with the 2.4 GHz band in iOS 8.0.0 but not the 5.0 band I have setup (would not connect but could see it after long pause).  After the update to 8.0.2 I am getting better speeds with WIFi and I can now connect with both bands.

    I basically agree with you however, I am apparently one of those 5% iPhone 5 users who are having significant problems (although I have found a work around).  Everything was fine with iOS 7 (and earlier) so when Apple made a change to support the new hardware, they broke their existing phones.  It is appears that their testing was insufficient either due to the testers or due to time constraints placed by executives.  Either way, they produced a sub par phone and a sub par OS.  One is bad, both is worse.  They really have a problem on their hands.

     

    Case in point, this thread, 15673 views and 268 posts in about 6 days.  That's a lot of people viewing the unofficial forums for problem resolution.
