Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update.  My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity.  When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours.  I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi.  Ridiculous.  Apple really needs to get it together.  This is the worst OS release yet.

I went to apple store today and they answer was to give me a new iphone, which of course did not fix issue using the wifi in their store.

I have been a loyal supporter of apple and loved Steve Jobbs ... it is a shame they are killing his company and his memory

I am on my second iphone 6 and both drop wifi constantly.  I have reset network settings, toggled wifi on and off, and eventually have to turn the whole phone off and back on to restore wifi.  I have installed 8.02 but nothing is any better.  On top of that, I have noticed that apps will open automatically, one right after another, even though I haven't tapped the screen.  In fact, the phone started typing in the search box on Facebook and I was not touching it at all.  Something is crazy wrong w/ these phones.  PLEASE HELP

I've provided feeback via Apple's feeback page, as well as participating in this blog. It's true that Apple may not read its own support blogs, but do you know who does? The press. There are plenty of articles on this fiasco. If our complaints aren't heard here, maybe they will listen to the bad press...

Just so folks know Apple is looking into this issue, I received a call from them about a post in the forum.

As I posted, I've not had any issues on any of my devices, but they where checking to be sure.

    ChrisThanks for contacting AppleCare
chat support. My name is Chris. Please give me a moment to look over your information.

ChrisHi Abdurrahim your chat is very important to us, this chat is currently being logged, and your case #673087725,
and can be referenced by any AppleCare Advisor (chat or phone).

ChrisTo start us out I am very interested in the reason for your chatting into us today! Along the way through
our chat, with your permission, I'd like to ask you a few questions about how you use your device. Would that be ok?

Me:Yes. It is perfect. Except wifi is oo slow

Oh no. what seems to be going on
    with that exactly?

      Me:after upgrading to ios 8.0.2

Me:once connected with wifi on Samsung galaxy s3 it works fine. I can even stream you tube video. but on same network when i use it with iphone it does not stream

Me:it takes ages even getting whats up images

Me:I have tried the following on the devices and nothing has changed!

      Me:Turned Wifi on and off

ChrisHuh, that’s quite odd. i’m sorry that you are having slow wireless like that but I’ll be happy to help you with that and i’m sure we can get you headed in the right direction to getting that fixed.

      Me:Forget Wifi network add again

      Me:Reset Network Settings

Me:Erase all content and restore from iTunes backup

Me:Erase all content and restore as a new device

Me:Disabling WiFi in location services > does nothing

Me:Disabling location services entirely > does nothing

Me:Changed the network type to WPA in my router to Personal or MixedWPA2/WPA -PSK. Rebooted router.

Me:when I use my cellular data. it works fine.

Me:how best you can assist me brother. I am really sad

Me:having best phone in cellular history and having wifi problem is quite strange

Well first of all, thank you so much for going through so many excellent steps already.

Chrisdoesn’t mena there isn’t more to try but you have done a lot of great stuff.

ChrisSo you have setup the device as a brand new device and it didn’t work any better?

      Me:yes

Me:same wifi network at the same time works fine with samsung s3 and not with Iphone 5s

Chrishave you experienced the same on any other wireless networks?

Me:I have tried with three different wireless network. all same

      ok, thanks.

ChrisSo at this point you’ve really done everything possible I think to rule out software / hardware.

Christhat doesn’t’ mean I think that this is hardware necessarily but no matter if you reinstall it seems to have the same result so that tells me it’s either the software itself or the iPhone.

Chriswith me so far on that? ok, thanks.

    Me:its iphone i think

    Me:or iphone new update

previously with ios 7 i was happy

ChrisI can say that I have the same exact iPhone and with iOS 8 there were a couple days where it ran a bit slowly but then it sped back up on it’s own

I can say that I have the same exact iPhone and with iOS 8 there were a couple days where it ran a bit slowly but then it sped back up on it’s own

Me:i have updated one week ago and still slow

i have updated one week ago and still slow

Chrisok. i’m not sure what changed for me.   ok. i’m not sure what changed for me.

ChrisAt this point we have a couple paths we cna pursue.

ChrisFirst of all we can wait for an update to iOS to come along and see if it improves.

      oh. I thought so.

Me:please release update as soon as possible brother

ChrisAlternately we can try to get you into an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Retail Store if there is one available in your area.

ChrisI’m sure our developers and working day and night to make sure any updates necessary are pushed out as quickly as is safely possible.

Me:I live in lilongwe, Malawi. I don't knoe who is apple authorised service provider

I don’t think we have any in Africa actually.

Chrisat least nothing outside of the very norther corner.

Me:I bought it in dubai. Ok, yeah we do have some support staff there in Dubai but otherwise we don’t have any in Malawi.

shouuld i get it replaced or should i wait until new updae is release

personally I believe, while I can’t ive a specific timeline, that more than likely there will be additional
updates before you even know it.

ChrisI would likely wait for that.

Chrissince this is most likely a software issue if I were to guess.

Me:Ok. Thank you very much. I would wait. thanks again for assistance

    Your very welcome.

ChrisThank you for chatting with me today! If you think of something else you'd like to ask, just chat us back, we’ll be here 24/7. You can close out our chat session by clicking on "End Chat" at the bottom of this screen and I'll make sure to send the case number our conversation to the previously provided e-mail address.

Have a great rest of your day!

If you are a developer or if you google imzdl and download the beta. Give it time to upload and be careful unless you can get your UDID registered. Remember it's beta 2 you need.

How are you so convinced the wifi problem is fixed?  How long have you been testing the new beta?  It seems like people have experienced multiple wifi problems with multiple routers, resets, "work arounds", etc.

Because before hand I couldn't use the 5ghz band on my router as within 5 - 10 mins it would drop or lose data. Now it is working flawlessly.

same here having wifi random disconnect issues and random reboots while using either the phone or while messaging. Also have reboots when using whatsapp

Apple... please resolve these in 8.1 or even earlier that would be great
