Oct 13, 2014 6:54 AM in response to Johnnie_Dby rw7,That's interesting. I am afraid to restore. I was one of the unlucky (stupid?) ones who upgraded to 8.0.1. When I worked with Apple to "fix" restore the iPhone 6, it froze and I had to return it. I am afraid to restore until I have more confidence.
Anyone else able to fix this connectivity problem by restoring? Please let us know.

Oct 13, 2014 7:04 AM in response to rw7by Charlie10250,A Restore will not help. If you have downloaded the update to IOS 8 you will have the problem until a new update is issued

What experiences (restoring) have others had?

Oct 13, 2014 10:14 AM in response to rw7by Johnnie_D,
I should add that I had problems with all 3 of the WiFi networks that I use prior to restoring my iPhone 6. Since the restore, all 3 networks have been working fine. So far I'm at 70 hours with no disconnects, compared to dropping connectivity every 5 to 15 minutes prior to the restore. Maybe I just got lucky. -
Oct 13, 2014 10:42 AM in response to Johnnie_Dby janie_burmy,Johnnie - did you restore from a back up? Or was it a clean install of 8.0.2 and setting everything up from scratch again? Did you lose all your text history?

Oct 13, 2014 10:51 AM in response to janie_burmyby Johnnie_D,Janie,
I did back my phone up just in case, but did't have to use it. Instead, the clean install of 8.0.2 and starting all over seems to have worked for me, though I am keeping my fingers crossed. I did lose my text history, but I really didn't have much to lose since I set the iPhone 6 up as a new phone about 4 weeks ago.

Oct 14, 2014 1:34 AM in response to Johnnie_Dby janie_burmy,Something weird is happening on this thread - I just got notification of a new post but when I come to this thread it's gone - very strange - it was all about the fact that the iOS 8.1 beta.2 doesn't seem to fix the issues - did anyone else get this notification and yet can't see it? When I go to the link it says I'm not authorised to see it! I can copy and paste the post if anyone wants to see it....? Are these threads being controlled/censored or did the person just remove his post I wonder?

Oct 14, 2014 3:54 AM in response to Jeep4Lifeby flybydawn,I'm having this issue with my 4s after upgrading too. Wifi is on but it doesn't locate any of my normal networks. I'm extremely ticked off, I have the smallest data plan available because I'm always within range of wifi and now I'm using up my data within the first week because it's suddenly not connecting. I'm pretty sure that the problem presented itself after I updated to 8.0.2. Very crappy Apple, very crappy.

Oct 14, 2014 5:29 AM in response to flybydawnby Dsheedy1,THe only problem I am having on my iPhone 5 and I have seen others having this problem. The first letter I type in a message is doubled.
Or the first two letters are caps. I know this is minor compared to wifi issues, but it's still annoying.
As for going over on data plans. Apple are you going to cover all of this overage for the ones that never go over????

Oct 14, 2014 6:23 AM in response to Jeep4Lifeby fifi1977,I am on my second iphone 6 and the wifi problems continue. I did a restore from icloud backup, set up as a new phone, reset networks, toggle wifi, "forget" and rejoin network, reboot, turn off/on, only use google dns, disable location services, etc. I have tried EVERYTHING. The only thing that gives me a few days of stability is to turn cellular data OFF. This seems to "stabilize" my phone but I still have to turn on/off or do a reboot every 2-3 days.

Oct 14, 2014 7:24 AM in response to fifi1977by janie_burmy,I'm on my second phone too - and I too notice that if my 3G /cell data is set to off, then reboot because of wifi drop are less frequent.
I'm in a low 3G signal area, despite what my network claim...I'm wondering if the weak cell data somehow drains the phone's capacity to keep wifi stable - there must be something that we people with wifi problems have in common, compared with those who don't have any issues with the phones...?

Oct 14, 2014 7:30 AM in response to janie_burmyby rw7,That's interesting Janie. I had several interactions with Apple tech.... No fix...they only offer reboot network, iPhone, "reset network connections," "hard reset," and "restore." I have 12 devices on my home network including an iPad...NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OTHER DEVICE." One Apple tech essentially "blamed my router" for dropping data packets. I love Apple, am a stock holder and I deeply respect their smarts and customer service but, really, "blame the router" when nothing else has problems? Own up to it. Fix it. Thoughts from others?

Oct 14, 2014 7:31 AM in response to janie_burmyby fifi1977,
Janie, my supposition is that, for certain phones, the cell network and wifi network both being present "confuses" the phone and it can't decide which network to remain on. Maybe it latches on to whichever network is strongest at the moment???
