Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

I have an iPhone 6+ and it would disconnect from wifi every few days out of the box.  Since i upgraded to 8.0.2, it has been disconnecting more frequently, like 2 or 3 times per day.   I'm then forced to reboot to resolve.

"Interesting theory.  All of my WiFi networks are in weak cellular signal areas.  Both home networks are in weak signal areas, and my office is in a section of my building that has literally zero cellular service."

which may be why turning cell data off helps with wifi stability a little....

Mark me up as one more victim of Apple's latest poor quality control with its 8.0.2 iOS release.  My brand new iPhone 6 will randomly enter some mode wherein it will NOT connect to WiFi.  Only a reboot of my router seems to persuade it to return to normal behaviour.  All my other Mac equipment connects without problems.  How can they put these releases out without testing?  28 pages in this thread !  PS - the phone actually disconnected from WiFi as I typed this on my Mac !!!

This is important news. I was one who posted that iOS 8.0.3 had serious WiFi connectivity issues, esp. dropping network. That was with a 3-5 year old router N-band. Today I up graded to a new duel-band (N & AC) WiFi router and my phone has been is is now rock solid on the network. So the soft and hard technology in the iPhone 6 requires compatible hardware to interface securely.

TRy to reset cellular data network setting. It worked at least for me

And restart your wifi or reboot ur iphone after resetting the cellular data network

28 pages and they still have not found the problem.

I tried all the possible fixes and none had any effect what so ever until I spotted one thing I'd not tried.

Changing my router settings from WEP to WPA2 under security, thinking to myself this isn't going to make a difference...... well here I am, 24 hours later with a healthy wifi connection which hasn't dropped or cut out once.

Those on WEP and still having issues, give it a go.

1- Forget your current wifi connecting in the wifi section of settings on your phone.

2- Change WEP to WPA2 security in your router settings.

3- Two finger death grip your phone (reset holding sleep and hold button until Apple logo)

4- Search available wifi and choose your wifi and enter your password.

Now ive read other posts saying they've tried this and it didn't work and others saying they are already on WPA2 settings.

All I can post is what has worked for me.

The be all and end all is that you shouldn't have to bugger about with routers if what you've used before has been okay.

The Apple strap line of "I just works..." Is now going to be changed to "It works, for some...."

I hope for Apples sake they fix this in the up and coming update as I feel a lot of users will start to talk with their feet.

As for the above workaround, I hope all that try it is that you have the same end result that I've had.

It's a strange one because Apple has messed up quite allot with this firmware update for 8.0 and 8.0.2.  For those who have a BT Home Hub 5 you need to change your SSID name on the router and make sure the 2.4 and the 5 mhz frequency band has a different ssid name or it will cause issues.

I've connected on the 2.4MHz frequancy

Reset your Iphone network settings,  (Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings then once phone comes back on and the ssid and wpa2 has configured on the router log on to your wireless and it should work fine fingers crossed.

I Thought I was fairly tech savvy, but Ottisb, I haven't got a clue how to do what you suggest, nor what it might do to the rest of the kit In the house.  I have a home hub 3 and am on   WPA/WPA2 already ( don't know the implications to other stuff of changing to just WPA 2?) ...what's changing the SSID name? Why on earth should we be having to so all of this to get a working phone? Are we to go out and ask all the hot spot owners to buy new routers or change their settings too?  ( no idea why ipad has suddenly started to type in bold...apologies for that)

my wifi connection lasts perfectly fine at home but the problem is mainly with public locations, the only issue I have is with the iPhone connecting my iPad works perfectly fine running IOS8 and connecting to public wifi

Same here as posted quite often already: iPhone 6, iOS 8.0.2, very shaky Wifi-Connection. Especially when downloading larger files (updates to apps for instance) the Connection seems to break down.

The same thing is happening to me with my iphone 5, and is not only me, all of my family members that live with me are having the same problem and it only happens with apple devices. My apple tv is having wifi problems, my macbook, my ipad and my iphone. What is going on apple?? when are you going to fix this? my brother and dad both have androids and have zero problems with wifi which goes to show that the problem is with apple devices not the wifi itself.

Why can't Apple simply undo what they did that causes this problem?  Why don't Apple supply some info on this forum?  Why? Why? Why?   I now have a high dollar phone that don't work properly from time to time.  It worked flawlessly until iOS8 was installed.  Come on Apple, where is the fix?  What's taking so long?  Do you even have a fix in the plans?  Where is the customer service?  This has to be fixed.
