Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

I am having similar issues as well. Not able to connect to available wifi and i had to reboot the phone to get connected again. raised a case with apple 677895798. They are saying its not a known issue. I am waiting to see if 8.1 can fix it, else i will replace the phone. Its really a bad experience after many years with apple.

It is a known issue as myself and many more (Macrumors Forum) have logged the same issue with them.

They have obviously been told to say the same thing to all people logging this issue.

Look back through this thread, I posted what fixed my wifi issue and it only took 5 minutes to do.

As for the permenant fix, we'll have to wait for the release of the new update On Monday.

...but if Apple are saying that it's not a know issue and not admitting any problems, how confident will you be to download 8.1 ...? Unless they acknowledge the issue and say they have tried to fix it in 8.1 why would we update and potentially make things worse?

Go to page 23 of this thread and read posts by johnfromscotland. he beta tested it and confirm 8.1 fixed the wifi problem.

Got an iPhone 6 a few days ago and set it up by restoring the backup of my previous iPhone 4s. Everything worked fine except wifi. No matter which network I connected to, the phone dropped the connection after a few seconds, sometimes after a few minutes. It reconnected automatically after a few seconds but I kept getting a very slow performance. Restoring network settings didn't help, nor did airplane mode or rebooting. I than restored the device to factory settings and set it up as a new phone. I didn't believe that would work, but it did. That was about three days ago and I didn't have a connection loss since then.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, the 8.1 update won't bring the problem back ...

II've had no issues at all when I was using iOS 7.1.2 now since iOS 8 and now 8.0.2 my wifi the 5S is creepy as ****! And they kept the 8.1 through Monday!!! Cmon Apple! You can do better !!!

Possible Solution:

I just got a 5s after having a 5. Restored all 5 info onto 5s (on iOS 8.0.2). Wi-fi at home not working, as all of you have described above. Wouldn't recognize my home password, wouldn't "join". I tried everything... then something worked; don't know how or why:

1) Turned off phone

2) unplugged router, waited 30 sec, plugged router back in

3) turned phone back on

4) Settings>General>Reset> "Reset Network Settings"

5) after finding my home wi-fi, entered home wi-fi password

and that worked.

Note: under Settings> Privacy>Location Services>System Services: I have "Wi-Fi Networking" OFF.

Panic over. For now.

Sometimes happen with 3/4g.

(And I need activate the Airplane and turn off, and here we go.)..

Hey Apple, better get a clue.  I'm starting to wonder why I should pay twice as much or more for Apple products when I can spend a whole lot less buying from your competition.  I used to have a valid reason, not so much anymore.

I am sure that Apple doesn't care to read their customer complaints on a forum.  I will just go ahead and add to it anyway.

My iPhone 6 had buggy Wifi that got progressively worse as time went on.  I've had it two weeks, and right now it won't find any available Wifi signals even if it's set right next to my router or personal hotspot with another device.  A week ago I started noticing how slow it was to connect to Wifi servers, and it seemed like it would connect to some (like my home) but not even see others (like my Wife's 'personal hotspot).  For the last week, if I cycled the power, it more or less fixed the problem of finding Wifi signals, but never fixed the problem of how quickly it connects.  Now, as I've said, it doesn't see any Wifi signals. 

I googled this problem a week ago and saw this thread.  I decided to tolerate the problem for the sake of collecting more information regarding the problem.  When I got to the point where I couldn't find Wifi signals anymore, I followed some of the several threads mentioning "reset network settings".  This worked.  My iPad2 mini is also on 8.0.2 but hasn't encountered this issue, however, my iPad doesn't make 1/10th of the Wifi connections that my iPhone does.

It's not my job, and I'm no genius, but this data leads me to believe that this problem is in fact iOS related - and is specific to anything that tracks, maintains, or caches previously made connections, that is resettable by 'reset network settings'.

I have to agree with some of the gripes and complaints about the new iOS.  It's not really enginuitive like Apple makes it out to be.  In fact, it's behind and just copying things that already exist.  Apple just needs to finally free their devices from the need to jailbreak to completely customize their device.

I bought my wife a Samsung S5 a few months back so I have plenty to compare it to.  I guess if I had to keep away from gripes about software related issues (all of which can be fixed), my biggest complaint would be the camera.  Why iPhones still use an 8MP camera is beyond me.  I think most would like to take higher resolution photos.  Her photos on her S5 are far more noticeably detailed compared to mine when expanded beyond the handheld device screen.  I also think the bigger is better mentality finally went a bit to far.  My iPhone 5S was perfect, at least for me.  I can do absolutely everything on that phone with one hand, without ever having to "let go" of the phone.  In other words, I always had a firm grip and never had to shift it to be able to tap the left side of the screen with my right thumb, or vice versa.  Now, I literally have to let go of the phone to shift it over a bit so my thumb can reach the far left side of the screen.  This is very unsettling for me to be doing with such an expensive phone.  I do, however, appreciate the new displays and processors that compliment the new phones.  Once iOS is fixed properly, it wont be so bad.  As the previous user behind me said, we miss Steve Jobs.  Considering what I've seen since we lost him, especially with iOS 8, the iPhone 6, and the upcoming iPad releases, this will unfortunately have to be my last iOS device.  Simply put, I just feel like the company is officially taking advantage of the loyalist customers to their portable devices.

For those of you who are brave enough to download the update immediately on Monday, would you please report back to us here and let us know if 8.1 fixes the wifi issue?  This thread has almost 50,000 views, which says a lot about how widespread the problem really is.  Thanks very much!

Ditto - seriously hope the update fixes the issue. Patiently awaiting my upgrade, I switched to the iphone 6 from my 4S, which had a significantly cracked screen for almost a year. I miss my 4S with the cracked screen now because at least I could use the device without having to check every few seconds if it's still connected to wifi, or even recognizes any networks. I've tried everything and nothing works. Apple, will you pay for my data this month when it goes over? Beyond frustrated.

What worked for me to resolve same issues with wifi on iphone 6 plus running 8.0.2 was to turn off Handoff in General Settings.

People keep mentioning the new iOS 8.1 release, it their a confirmed release date for this? Also, how are we supposed to download the latest update when the Wi-Fi connection is unreliable and extremely slow?

I became a fan of apple devices for stability, but lately I'm having problems with the wifi conectatividad 6 and restarts iphone apps on ipad air, luckily I have not updated the iphone 5, this works perfectly. The truth is that I'm pretty frustrated.

When we give a solution for these problems?
