Sep 27, 2014 12:37 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby ashleyduh,I love that i spent $500 on a very nice paper weight since it won't stay connected to my **** wifi (when it does find it) and it keeps losing my carrier data. Yay for Apple tricking us into buying this paperweight.

Sep 27, 2014 1:35 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby tigerbones,UPDATE:
i went out and bought a Netgear Nighthawk router ($200) just to SEE if that was the issue. phone/wifi works perfectly now, full bars and fast connect, no dropping at all. You probably don't need the Nighthawk specifically as long as your router is running AC/ 2/5 gigz? All of the other routers I had been using were a few years old. I guess the iphone 6 doesn't play well with them.

Sep 27, 2014 1:37 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby markymids,iPhone 5S user having the same issue. Wifi worked flawlessly on 7.1.2 but on 8.0 and 8.0.2 it is very hit and miss. I've read hundreds of articles, tried so many fixes but nothing permanently resolves it. Sometimes the wifi will load fast, other times I just get the circle and timeout messages. When I switch to 4G/LTE everything is lightning fast.
Really disappointed with Apple - I have been using their phones since the original iPhone in 2007 and have always had a lot of affection for them - but IOS8 is the worst release I've ever witnessed with them - wifi is fundamental to the usage of the iPhone - the odd bug I can live with (see iTunes Match) but the wifi issue is CRIPPLING.
Apple - sort it out QUICKLY before I do what I thought I NEVER would by switching to Android.

Sep 27, 2014 3:09 PM in response to tigerbonesby Billabong12789,Tigerbones are you running a nighthawk R7000? If so is it working properly? I am running one and i am having wifi connection issues.. are you using WPA2-PSK [AES] or WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] did you change any settings?

Sep 27, 2014 3:34 PM in response to Billabong12789by Billabong12789,I would like to let everyone know I enabled WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia) setting on my 5Ghz network (Netgear Night Hawk R7000), this setting was under the QoS settings and now the WIFI seems to be working perfect i'm back to getting 60.11Mbps Down and 11.95up, the signal has been consistent for sometime now! This is on my Iphone 6Plus. I hope this helps!

Sep 27, 2014 4:18 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby Brain Pain, ios 8.0.2 did not fix the problem for me either. Still no Wifi for more than about 2 minutes before it disconnects. Tried all the workarounds, nothing. My 4s is also using so much memory now that my phone locks continually and is only made somewhat functional again by a reset.

Sep 27, 2014 5:06 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby Timchap,Over the last 2 days, I have been able to make the network lose the DNS EVERY TIME I plug the phone in to recharge it. This has happened using the iPhone charger as well as docking it on my iHome.
This occurs whether or not I have wifi turn on for the iPhone.
On the plus side, I found a work around. If I put the iPhone in Airplane mode and then connect it to the power, the network doesn't crash. I can then take it out of airplane mode.
iPhone 5S
Netgear WNDR3700v3.

Sep 27, 2014 5:33 PM in response to Billabong12789by tigerbones, yeah it was the r7000 with out of the box setup. I'm connected to the 5ghz stop (I'm gonna test your settings and report back )
since my post I've had a few issues but nothing like before
--I have constant full signal with the new router (did not have this before on new iPhone 6 with old belkin router (non ac)... meanwhile old 4s and 5 would get full bars on that old router )
-speeds are fine when connected to the nighthawk
- Ive had a few instances where it would drop to 3g randomly , but not anywhere like it did before
-it goes back to wifi quickly though yet sort of randomly on how/why
when I was at staples buying the router I tested connecting to their hotspot ... With the iphone 5 it picked up all of the staples networks in about 25 seconds . The iphone 6 just spun for about 45 seconds and stopped... 10 seconds later all the staples networks popped up. Things are working better for me now but I need more testing and will still probably bring it to Apple for diagnostics. Really trying to narrow this down to a hardware/software/router issue. It's hard for me to believe that apple shipped this phone/software having so many issues talking to certain common routers ... it's also hard to believe they would have shipped a number of bad units ... And if it was ios 8 software then why isn't it effecting everyone

Sep 27, 2014 6:35 PM in response to tigerbonesby Billabong12789,I just wanted to let you know that prior to enabling that feature I was having problems with the R7000, the WiFi was acting slow, it would die out.. speed tests would show errors, I basically had no WiFi at all. So i had went back to my old Belkin N900 Router until I was able to try the enabled WMM fix for myself. Its been several hours and the WiFi is still working strong. I do believe this IOS 8 software related, I had this Nighthawk for several months and never had an ISSUE until i bought the IPhone 6+.

Sep 27, 2014 10:26 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby tigerbones,update 2:
Things are looking less and less good as the router being a solution. I've tried 4 different routers at this point. If i reset network settings and stay in the same wifi area with the Nighthawk, things are fine. Once you walk out of range and come back, the phone has trouble picking up/ remembering the networks. It will eventually but can take minutes... Even when it does see them sometimes it will say "unable to join' when you click Join. something is not right there.
I had suspected something to do with icloud keychain and disabled it but that doesn't appear to have any effect.
Even though I've re-did the firmware.. I'm going to erase all data and see if something is being messed up from my ios7 restore.

Sep 27, 2014 11:09 PM in response to Jeep4Lifeby mistercoffee1,It has to be iOS 8.0 and 8.0.2.
Both gave me WIFI that worked ok, then would get stuck. Forget about having Chrome and Mercury Browsers open at the same time.
This happened on 5ghz and 2.4ghz.
A Soft reboot, reset Network settings, rebooting router, forgetting Network and resetting Network all only gave temporary relief only to get intermittent again.
The only thing that fixed it permanently was to downgrade back to 7.1.2 on Fri morning while it was still being signed. Glad I squeezed that one in.
