Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update.  My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity.  When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours.  I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi.  Ridiculous.  Apple really needs to get it together.  This is the worst OS release yet.

Finally a fix for the iOS 8.0.2.  So far no problems here with the iOS 8.1, working great so far.  Knock on wood.  Just the first day though.

Changed some router settings as well, and to no avail. they also do not work. Also updated the iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 and it has no wifi connectivity issues. The iPhone 4 which I upgraded previously from running iOS 6.1.3 and all the other wifi-capacle devices also connects to wifi with no problems, so don't really want to tinker much with the router.

So far 8.1 is working for me.   let me see how it behaves today. I was asking if resetting network settings after the update to 8.1 helped...

I resolved my issues by enabling the 2.4 GHz on my Wi-Fi router, and disabling the 5 GHz.  It's been solid ever since.

My symptoms were that it would be connected for awhile, and then all the i0S phones and ipads in the house would start disconnecting/reconnecting over and over again.  None of the iMACs had troubles staying connected.

Just upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1.  5ghz WiFi is still running extremely slow and cuts out occasionally.

Iphone 5S , less than one year old - STILL with 8.1 iOs will not STAY Connected !!!!!

Its better than 8.0.2 ,,, better NOT FIXED !!!

HOW is this simple function so hard to get right from one of the worlds LARGEST companies?

I will either have to buy a Galaxy phone ,, OR find unlimited data plan and buy myself out of my Contract, better yet #apple can buy out my contract for me since its their fault, self admitted fault as noted in the "learn more" part of iOs 8.1 -

    FIX THIS APPLE

So we wait a MONTH for a fix ... summary says its to FIX wifi connectivity .... and it does not FIX .

It does "help" , but 100% does not fix - I used google and go to news then type in" ios 8.1 wifi " about half way down the page I see an article few hours old with MANY having the same problems described here in this official APPLE forum.... where are the mods for this Forum ???????

Because your particular issue is likely not a universal one.

For example, I have had no Wi-Fi issues at all with iOS 8.

That doesn't mean you're not having problems or that no one is, but rather that some Wi-Fi issues are unique to a device/router combination.

Be sure to report your particular issue to AppleCare so they can track it down; stating "Wi-Fi doesn't work" is not at all helpful; Apple needs particulars like router, 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz, encryption or clear, SSID broadcast or not, etc.

not only have I alresdy done those mentioned items but clearly it IS a widespread issue if it was part of a ios big "fix" I use that term very loosely.

of course I understand there are specific issues -

the the issue is not resolved with the fix ,its in news articles it all over this apple forum if one desires to see it.

fact remains of it's 600 or 600,000 phones with this issue is a mute point , it's still an issue and it needs to get resolved.

Apple did a sloppy job with the design on the new iPhone6 both visually and internally. They did a sloppy job with ios8 and don't even get me started with their sloppy support.

8.1 did not entirely fix the issue for me too. After the update my half a year old iPhone 5S was alright for a day, but then unfortunately it started to disconnect and switch to cellular data again. So far it seems to be more stable, than it was with 8.0.2, but that is not a fix of the issue. I noticed that locking the screen for a moment and then unlocking it reconnects the phone to wifi.
