Q: Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

• I have an iPhone 5C. 
• iOS 8.0 disabled my Wi-Fi. Actually not just disabled, it made my phone behave as it did not have W-Fi.  I could not re-enable it. 

Restarting my phone or resetting network settings made me no difference.

Solution:

1. Power down iPhone for a few minutes
2. Power-up and Wi-Fi is back again!

After updating to the latest iOS 8.0.2 it disabled my Wi-Fi again. Following the power-down procedure above fixed it.

Same problems with my iPad 4th generation and iPhone 5. After upgrading to IOS 8.02 wifi keeps disconnecting every 2 minutes or so. Really frustrating. Need HELP !

After update to iOS 8.0.2, i'm still facing slow wifi issue as well on my iphone 5s and ipad mini retina too. It didn't fix the problem.....

UPDATE: Turned OFF Location Services completely in Settings-Privacy . Wifi is not disconnecting now. Tried in both ipAd and iPhone. Its working for now.

I think that's a plural of iPhone 6.

Did a lot of testing on this problem as I've had it since last week.  I'm running iPhone6+, 8.0.2 (same issues on 8.0.0) 128GB.

The disconnects and other errors (invalid password, etc) only seem to happen on my G-network.  With the same Linksys router my N-network works just fine.  Never drops off, never has a password failure even when the G-network does. So 2.4GHz is bad, 5GHz is good.

I suspect a chip issue with the G-network as I believe Apple has a different WiFi chip in the 6 than in the 5 (and earlier).  That would be why 8.0.2 did nothing.

If anyone knows for sure on my chip statement above I'd appreciate feedback.

I have the same issue iPhone 5c, have to turn wifi and cellular off and then back on for it to work.

I have the same issue but its related to 5s.. first i upgraded to ios 8 and certainly almost lost the internet speed when phone is connected to wifi. I thought may be it is a bug and will be removed in some other update to ios 8. now I have updated my 5s to IOS 8.02 but still facing the same issue which is very frustrating. I hope it will be rectified soon...

I have same series of backups you mentioned  (4s and new 6). Not really having any issues with finding and connecting to networks but the download speed seems a little slow. My upload it typically faster than download on the iP6. I have a 30/30 fiber connection but iP6 getting anywhere from 15/28 to 19/29 to 23/29.  Not sure how  having iCloud backups would effect wifi connectivity or speed so that is a strange observation. Old 4s would get 22-25 down typically. Older D-LINK n router.

It looks like the fix that worked for me as of now, i restored my phone from itunes, and instead connecting to my 2g like before, I connected to my 5ghz network and havent had a dropped or slow connection so far. This might now work for all and if it does, Apple still has to resolve the issue

Hi everyone. We have in my house, one ipad air, one ipad mini retina, one ipad 3, two Iphone 5S and one apple tv. Before IOS 8 everything was working perfectly and specially the broadcasting of the french tv channels (SFR TV) by internet and using my apple tv. Since the release of IOS 8 and the last upgrade, it is a disaster. I am not able to view my tv channels through the apple tv as it is disconnecting because of wifi signal fluctuation. I am now using the hdmi cable instead! Also the use of iphone has trouble such as whatsapp or facetime.

The issue is really the new IOS 8 and i hope that apple will correct the problem very soon.

Anyway bought a shiny iPhone 6, updated to 8.02 and have been constantly kicked out of my WIFI again and again and again... What's worse I foolishly updated however my 5 with 8.02 and so can't even go back to it..

BUT without changing the WIFI settings/location settings etc...

**** ALL I DID was do a HARD reset... You know when the screen jams and you HOLD the HOME BUTTON and the POWER SWITCH (on the side of the iPhone 6 not on the top) and Apple symbol appears and.....

YAY!!!!! It no longer kicks me out of my WIFI, have no idea if this will work for anyone else, but it's so simple maybe people have missed it...

Hope it works for at least one other person as its 100000000% frustrating not being able to use WIFI on a brand new phone.

Update:

you shouldnt do anything on your router at all, it was working before why it should stop working now? This is clearly ios issue.  Anyway, i came across a temporarily solution from some website and have tried it and so far it has been working quite OK.

When you are using your wifi connection, turn off your cellular data.

i dont know if this has something to do with Apple new randomize mac address that  is messing up with the wifi connection.

I suspect this has to do with dynamic MAC address generation brought by IOS 8. My router was dropping connections until i switched to the Airport Extreme serving the addresses. It seems that now the new router (Airport Extreme) accepts the dynamic MAC address generation in IOS devices and the old router did not. Don't know if that is the issue but its my observation.
