I dragged a bunch of video files from my husband's profile to the EHD. Then I logged in on my profile and tried to access the files and it told me I don't have permission to open the document. In the error box it says underneath: Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance. ?? What should I do?

Select the drive, choose Get Info from the File menu, look at the Sharing & Permissions section, click the padlock, and check the box to ignore ownership on the volume. Alternatively, select the folder enclosing the videos, proceed as above except for the last step, give yourself read and write access, and apply it to the enclosed items.

Awesome, this worked. But I'm curious about what I see in the Info popup box. It gives me options to select either
1- Read and Write access
2- Read only
3- Write only
For myself, "Staff" and "everyone." I don't know what to make of the Staff and Everyone labels?
The staff group basically contains all the accounts you created on the computer, while everyone includes system-level ones.
