Can't change sample rate

I recorded a song at 44.1 and when I opened it again in logic it played fast and the regions were shorter. So I checked the sample rate and it's at 48. I've gone to audio-sample rate and tried to change it but all it does is process and then stay at 48. I'm usuing the built in audio card of the mac and in utilities it says 44.1. I've gone into the wave file sample editor and used the sample convertor but i'm not trying to convert the wave files sample rate but the sample rate of the song. I'm completly out of ideas. I just can't get the sample rate of the song to change form 48 to 44.1

I am the bloke who posted a couple before you and oddly enough i had exactly the same problem, If the sample rate doesn't change in the audio tab (like it didn't for me) then go to utilities in applications, and then to audio/midi set up. You can then change all of the input and output sample rates for all of your different sources. If you are just using the internal sound card then click on built in output and simply change it to 44.1. It has worked for me, after days of pulling my hair out! Hope this works for you

I've done both, gone in and tried to change it to 44.1 but the check mark just stays at 48 so when i save and exit then reopen it stays at 48. Also I've gone to audio/midi and the input part says 44.1 but there is not setting for output sample rate for internal built in audio card so i cant set anything there.
I'm ready to call customer service and pay that $199 so they can fix this thing that probably takes 5 seconds to fix.

I don't know if this will help, but I was experiencing some strange behavior with a FW interface which also seemed to be effecting the system audio. Go into the Local User-->Library-->Preferences and remove the com.apple.audio.AudioMIDIsetup.plist file. I just put it on the desktop and restarted, forcing a rebuild of the file. If that doesn't help (or actually makes the problem worse), then move the original back to the Preference folder

From the arrange page, go to the Audio Menu, and select "Sample Rate"

If it says 48, try changing it to 44.1, and then save. Then close, and then reopen the song. That should do it.
