Oct 14, 2014 12:47 PM in response to xrite47by justinfromtoledo,I just used the solution from one of the prior posts. My Father was keeping the plastic protectors the unit was shipped with on, since he hasn't recieved his new case yet.
We just tested it without the plastic and the sound is normal!

Oct 20, 2014 8:41 AM in response to ChrisR83by roger_merc,Hi guys,
I am still having trouble with how low the volume is. I have the iphone 6 plus and i have the iphone 5. When typing, the "click" noise is very low even when the volume is on high. On my iphone 5 there is no issue. I do not have the plastic wrap on my phone... I am really hoping this is a software issue....

Oct 20, 2014 10:45 AM in response to roger_mercby Rick600,This is one of the major reasons why I returned my iPhone 6 ten days after getting it on September 19 and went back to my Droid phone.I noticed this immediately after getting the phone at the mall where the Verizon Company kiosk is located. I had trouble hearing the other end of my first call that I made there. Verizon was the only store open at the mall at 8:30 AM. No, I do not have hearing loss.
A number of others have commented on the low earpiece volume during calls. The volume from the speaker on the bottom is just fine for music or as a speakerphone. I tried enabling the enhanced audio for hearing aids. The volume control is set to full blast. I had the phone in an Otterbox Defender. No, there was no plastic in front of the earpiece. I had to remove the Otterbox protective screen, it is terrible. I installed a cheap Verizon plastic screen protector. It does not cover the earpiece. I tried the phone in the Otterbox and without a case. The volume is only slightly higher with the bare phone pressed against my ear.
Unlike Android, iOS does not have individual volume sliders for the bell, speaker/earpiece volume, and notifications. I have to turn down the volume of the earpiece, notifications, and ringer on the Droid otherwise it is too loud and others can hear the other end of conversations.
By the way: I just did the iOS 8.1 upgrade to my my iPad 3. No major bugs that I can see so far.

Nov 21, 2014 12:05 PM in response to ChrisR83by DaNiBoy12,I had same problem on the first day with my Iphone 6 plus, low volume, no plastic obstructing earpiece, troubleshooting as recommended int this and other forums and no luck and then i realize when moving my phone adjusting to my ear was getting better volume and in fact I found out is the way how I place the phone earpiece with my ear, I just needed to make sure to place my ear in the middle of the phone where earpiece is. we are use to some way to place the phone in previus iphones model but because iphone 6 or plus is wider you need to adjust in correct position in your ear. Now i hear loud and clear!!!.. hope this helps.

Nov 26, 2014 4:38 PM in response to ChrisR83by Kswiney,This may sound silly but did you remove the protective film from the front of your phone? I was having the same problem but when I removed it I could hear much better! Worth a try!!!

Dec 8, 2014 5:34 AM in response to Kswineyby Jon B 74,I had a similar problem. My text alert volume was very low on actually receiving a message, but loud if I tried it in settings.
With the phone unlocked the volume was showing as max, using the side buttons.
My solution was simple:
With phone locked slide up the Control Center.
Slide the visual volume control to louder level.
Hey presto, fixed.
It seems the locked volume is different to the unlocked volume.

Dec 16, 2014 1:17 PM in response to ChrisR83by heronf,The earpiece volume does seem lower then on my iphone 5. I just picked up two iphone 6s and they are both the same.
The tiny speaker (earpiece) is different then the speaker coming out the bottom of the phone. That is the one used for the speaker phone, music, videos etc. They are two completely different components. There is no problem with that one for me.
I am assuming this can be fixed with a software update. If enough people complain. As everyone knows you really have to crank up your speakers on any stereo before they blow. They probably have a software limiter on there.
That is is of course assuming the limitation is the software and not that there is not enough wattage (power) going to the earpiece, if that is the problem then that would be a hardware issue.
My suggestion is that as many people call into applecare as possible. So that they are very aware it's an issue. I'm sure sure how much effect posting on the forum has for long-term change. This is the only way they will upgrade the software in the next update. And if it's it a hardware issue, they might fix it with the next iPhone 6 model and it will come under a warranty repair.
But they are selling so many phones at this time of year, this probably isn't a high priority, so hopefully in 2015 they will move it up the list.
Just my thoughts.

Dec 19, 2014 8:03 AM in response to ChrisR83by 203Angel203,I just picked up 3 iPhone 6 plus for my self wife and daughter, my daughters is fine
but me and me and my wife's volume are very low no matter what we change or do
and it has no screen cover on it all settings are high. Rebooted A few times
but still low, it's very frustrating. Think were gonna take them back
and go with another type of phone. To much money for an item not to work properly.
