iPhone 6 Plus camera rotation problem - any way to fix it?

I took 7 photos this evening with my new iPhone 6 plus. All were taken in landscape mode. All were taken standing, holding the camera in landscape position pointed straight ahead or at a slight tilted down angle to shoot something relatively low in height.

3 of the photos came out oriented correctly. But 4 came out rotated incorrectly. And there doesn't seem to be a way to correct the rotation in the Photos app, is there?

Why don't the photos consistently turn out rotated correctly in the Photos app?

In the Camera app itself, I looked at each one after shooting via the little window that appears after taking each photo. In all those views the photos were oriented correctly.

A bug? Anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks,

doug

Actually, I didn't point the AppleCare person to the forums. He just said please hold a few minutes and came back and told me he searched the forums himself.

Anyway, it does seem to help to post here. If somebody reports a problem and nobody else mentioned it in the forums they are more likely to think it is an isolated event rather than something widespread.

I'm just saying that yes, they KNOW about the forums, but NO, they do not read them as a rule. It's up to you whether or not to believe me, but this is a user-to-user technical support forum manned by users like yourself, and the only regular Apple employees here are monitors who make sure posts aren't violating TOS. I won't argue about it any more.

same problems here with an iphone 6 plus. wrong orientation of photos/videos, wrong orientation of homescreen, camera app sometimes just shows black and needs to be closed and restarted again and some other problems (just lost wlan while writing this). I've had three three iphones so far (including the 6 plus), but never did I have that many problems as with this one and ios 8(.0.2). Apple needs to fix all those bugs quickly - this is a disaster!

I have the rotation issue, not only in camera, but in other apps where once the issue is "on", I can't rotate apps at all. I took my first iPhone 6 into the Apple Store because of this rotation issue, they said it was likely software, and when the "genius" tried to restore my phone on the MacBook Pro there, he couldn't get it out of DFU mode and his iTunes kept erroring out on my restore. So he gave me a new phone. Well this new iPhone 6 (64GB) does the same thing. Notice on the attached screenshot, the text at the top of the camera app is upside down but the rest of the camera app is the correct orientation. I just tried taking a picture in landsape, and it didn't rotate to landscape. A reboot fixes temporarily but this is getting old fast. This rotation issue and bluetooth issues with my 2011 Toyota Highlander, I'm pretty frustrated with the half-a$$ed iOS 8 release... User uploaded file

Yes, the main rotation bug seems to have been fixed!

One minor issue remains though. In the situation described for this bug, after you take a photo, the preview in the corner remains rotated incorrectly until you go into the preview and rotate the phone.

However, the photo is saved with the correct orientation.

I haven't tested photos synced to the Mac to see if any are upside down or not though.

But the main rotation bug does seem to have been fixed.

i have been going crazy with this same problem. I don't know all the terms, but the instant control screen that you can swipe up from the bottom has a screen rotation control. In using this screen for music I accidentally turned the lock on. NO WHERE IN PRINT DID I FIND THIS SIMPLE SOLUTION. My 6+ works fine now. Hope this helps someone else. Happy New Year!!
