WD My Passport unable to connect with Macbook Pro IOS 10.9.4

My WD My Passport external hard disk is unable to be detected by Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.4, there is no any hard disk icon appear on the desktop.

Actually my WD external hard disk was able to connect with my Macbook before I upgrade from os x mountain lion to OS X 10.9.4.

Anyone can give advice to me? thanks.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your advice and I have tried to look for the solutions on the article.

However I think it didn't relate to the USB problem because the WD hard disk s still able to connect to my desktop PC which is Windows system. Other than that, I am able to connect another thumb drive to my Macbook, thats why i said it shouldn't be a USB related problem.

To ensure my opinion, I have tried a Toshiba External hard disk to connect to my Macbook but finally it didn't work.

Probably my Macbook cannot read External Hard disk? Please advice, thanks.

Best regards,

The way that you have checked the boxes in Finder Preferences, the external HDD icons should appear on the desktop. Do you have a non-WD external HDD that you can connect to the MBP? If so, does it have the same problem of not showing on the desktop but does show in Dusk Utility?

Ciao.
