Resound LiNX 961 and iphone 6 iOS 8.0.2

Prior to iOS 8 and iphone 6 had been using LiNX for months, generally OK..not perfect. Since the purchase of iPhone 6 and the new iOS 8 even with the new 8.0.2 installed there are/where issues with the bluetooth sync - pairing and especially with the Resound Smart APP. After many tries seems to have some success with going to Setting, General, Accessibility, Hearing Aids, then after opening did the Forget This Device and then restarted the pairing process for each hearing aid. For now it seems the LiNX are paired, although Resound Smart App took a couple of tries to open up properly.

This worked for me after a couple of days of not working at all during the iPhone 6 purchase and the update of the iOS 8.0.2, believe is very important to do this update to getting the LiNX Resound Hearing Aids to function, so for now they are synced. Calls and Streaming seem to work, by the way the Streaming seems to be clearer than before the with the new iPhone 6 and iOS8 update in my opinion.

I am also having an issue with pairing. The aids try to pair with both the iPhone and iPad. Instead of giving me a steady pair with one device the 2 devices "fight" over who gets to pair! It removes my ability to have a conversation with the caller.

I have gone to the iPad and clicked "Forget this device" but it doesn't recognize the request.

Basically the $6000 Resound hearing aids have made my life miserable. I cannot use them to talk on the phone. I now have to remove the aids to have a normal conversation on the telephone. Thankfully my hearing loss permits this, but realistically spending money on something that was billed to "work well with Apple because Apple came to Resound to partner, is a huge lie."

I was given hope, paid a lot of money and am very disappointed.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to do?

Thanks for letting me vent.

I was on chat and phone with Apple support today and this problem and even after telling the iphone 6 to forget the Linx 961's and a reboot of the phone , then doing a reset all content and settings several times, setup as new phone via itunes, then pairing the aids and downloading the Resound Smart app, they work for about half an hour. Then one turns off, my left, then about a minute and 15 seconds later, the left comes back and i hear in stereo again forr about one and a half minutes when the left turns off again. Back to mono etc, etc , etc..... Apple needs to fix this fast. I understand that from the hearing aid forum, Starkey Halo users are having similar problems.

cicada11 - Have you taken your Linx to your audiologist to have him/her run a check on hardware? Perhaps one of the devices is defective? The audiologist will also test to make sure that your devices are in fact paired correctly. If problems can be duplicated with the audiologist, he/she can channel the issue up the chain.

I have an iPhone5S with the Linx, have updated to IOS8 (now OS8.2) and have had no connectivity problems. However, the IOS8 update did create an issue which most hearing aid users probably won't experience. I use my iPhone5s to capture wildlife video and ever since the update to IOS8, whenever bluetooth is turned on for my hearing aids, video files cannot be saved to the iPhone. Disengage bluetooth and the files get saved. I contacted my ReSound rep who was able to duplicate the problem. He has passed the issue along to ReSound engineering. Clearly there is an issue with bluetooth connectivity that has needs be addressed. My take is that working with ReSound will probably get better results.

Just to be clear, the term "bluetooth" is a somewhat generic term in that all bluetooth technology is not equal. The bluetooth technology used to connect devices to a Jambox speaker or car stereos is different from the low-power bluetooth technology used in hearing aids.

The hearing aids are fine. Both work and stay connected when I stream bluetooth from the ReSound TV device. No drops at all. Try connecting to an iPhone 6 and you will start to see the problem. I have spoken with my audiooligist and ReSound. This is an Apple problem that they are ignoring as usual.I have heard about the video and bluetooth problem. Yes, I understand the difference between the bluetooth for cars and the bluetooth for hearing aids. I have had the Linx since they came out in April. They are great aids and have worked wondefully until the day I bought the iPhone 6.

I also had problems connecting my hearing aids to an iPhone 6 plus running 8.02. They would pair and then lose the connection in a few seconds. I fixed the problem by going to Settings..General..Reset..Reset Network Settings. That causes the phone to reboot and forget its wifi login info, bluetooth pairing, VPN, etc. Now my Resound Linx 961 hearing aids are staying connected.

Thanks for that info hmotulsky but, I had already tried that. I even did a "Erase all content and setting. Both worked at 1st but later one aid starting dropping the connection to the other aid again. Apple and ReSound have both contacted me about this issue and Apple is now admitting they have an issue with Bluetooth and it is theirs to fix. Although I have not seen anywhere that Apple admitted publicly it was their Bluetooth problem to fix. ReSound was helpful but they can not fix the problem. Hopefully, we will all get this behind us when iOS 8.1 is released sometime between now and October 20th. I understand from developers that the Bluetooth problem is resolved in iOS 8.1.

I see Apple is releasing iOS 8.1 on Monday 10-20-14 under the guise of releasing Apple Pay. Apple seems to think hearing aid clients are the same as car Bluetooth clients and that we can just wait until their next great Apple Pay release to help us hear again. The Apple Pay event was more important to them than offering the hearing aid clients a quick upgrade to beta 8.1 to fix our Bluetooth problem now instead of waiting for the "Greatest Show on Earth" on Monday the 20th when they introduce Apple Pay. In the meantime, I am off to my sister's funeral with no hearing aids and will not be able to hear anyone. Way to go Apple, pony up for the money, but when your clients need you, stick your head in the sand and play ostrich! Now I am beginning to understand why Steve Jobs meant so much to Apple. He cared, Apple doesn't, they just want more money. It is absurd that all the people with hearing aids are made to wait until Monday to get their **** hearing back!! I can't wait to let Apple control my thermostat in the middle of winter or the lock on the front door of my house.I would freeze to death, be locked out or in my house, and would starve because I can't cook, all because dear Apple thinks Bluetooth is a toy. Now, Apple wants everyone to pay for anything they buy with Apple Pay. Won't that be nice when that technology stops working with one of Apple's wonderful future updates and you can't even buy gas, groceries or medicine! Bluetooth has been around for years and I guess Apple needs Steve Jobs to come back from death to help fix a simple problem in a timely manner. Maybe when he comes back, he can teach the remaining fools at Apple what customer service is, wheat testing is and what Quality Assurance means!

I too am extremely disappointed with the hearing aid by resound hearing aid and the apple product. Have not been able to pair to phone. Worked ok until about a month ago. Cannot control volume on phone obviously and this device does not have volume control on the aid. Even if it did, you cannot keep your phone out of your site in social situations. Have to remove aids when on the phone to understands peach. I have barely enough hearing to make do, but very difficult. Would never recommend to friends, and so new that me audiologist had to learn herself how to work it. She called in the resound rep who was amazing, tried his best but finally wound up cranking the sound so high as a last attempt to help and the audiologist knew that was not the answer. Sound is horrible. Cannot adjust to get better. I thought it was only me, but I see that I am not alone. p
