Sep 28, 2014 11:43 AM in response to liguxby FrenchToast,You don't have AppleJack installed on your SL partition, by chance? If not, it's a shame, because it can come in handy in such situations. Are you sure your RAM isn't faulty? SL can be pretty picky about that, more than more recent OS X versions.

Sep 28, 2014 2:17 PM in response to FrenchToastby ligux,AppleJack??? I´m afraid not.
Just in case I check HDs , RAMs , Files, Volumes ... with Techtool and everything is OK.
Maybe a kind of files I should get rid of, to try it to make it work? Preferences? because it is not Hardware, and though I have fixed permissions sure it has to do with some corrupted file.
The only strange thing to be aware of, is that I mistook with an HDMI cable (ATI HD5770) , it went fine during the previous session to the blackout :-p ,but then ...
Thanks

Sep 28, 2014 10:37 PM in response to liguxby FrenchToast,If you can boot from the SL install DVD, you might want to install AppleJack (more about it here: http://www.ctitech.org/mediawiki/index.php/Applejack_-_install_on_system_that_wi ll_not_boot) from there, using a USB drive to copy/install it on your HDD, then reboot in Single User mode (hold the Apple and S keys down on startup).
At the prompt, you can then type "applejack AUTO restart" (no quotes, the AUTO in caps), and wait for AJ to do its job.

Oct 1, 2014 2:36 AM in response to FrenchToastby ligux,It does´t work for me, because I have tried the installation of Applejack as advised, but SL install DVD gets stuck, with the color ball spinning.
I have thought that maybe with a new clean installation of SL in another partition and launch everything from there might help, but gets the same problem , SL install DVD gets stuck. I have even tried a clean new installation from X.5.2 install cd´s, but it also get freeze with the the color ball spinning.
I am starting to think that there might be some kind of command that once installed Mavericks in any other HDpartition , blocks old installations.

Oct 1, 2014 4:11 AM in response to liguxby FrenchToast,Are you absolutely POSITIVE there's nothing wrong with your hardware (RAM, for example)? If it's a yes, then you're right, installing a more recent OS X version on your Mac created a recovery partition that essentially "brands" your hard drive as being Lion-and-above-only, so you'll have to wipe it out thoroughly before you can downgrade to SL (see here: How do I downgrade from Mavericks back to Snow Leopard?).
This said, your spinning beach-ball when trying to boot from the DVD leads me to think there's something wrong with your hardware, but I may be wrong.
Is the DVD you're trying to boot from also the one that came with your Mac, or a retail DVD? If you scavenged it from another Mac, it won't boot on another Mac except the one it's tied to (they are usually grey).
