HP C309a - can print test page but not print document

Having upgraded to Mavericks I can connect to my HP C309a all-in-one via the utility and print a test page but not a document

I have a windows domestic network set up via a windows 7 laptop.

This happens both from my iMac (wired) and Macbook air (wireless)

The document status is "Printing - the printer is not responding"
