Q: Anyones health kit app stop working?

I went to bed last night and everything was tracking fine between my Healthkit app and myfitnesspal app. I had 5 or 6 things pinned to my dashboard. I woke up and it is all gone.. Nothing is pinned to my dashboard and when I swipe to put it on my dashboard and press back it still isn't there and I go back in and it is switched off. I click on the Show all data and it does the spiny thinking icon forever and won't populate. But my steps I think are still being calculated in myfitnesspal. I have killed all open apps, soft restart, hard restart and nothing has fixed it. I have the iPhone 6 64gb ATT with the os and all apps updated.

I am glad the fixes worked for you.

In my vase, a soft restart and hard restart and lots of attempts to get steps to be recognized failed.

No app that takes the built in steps seems to read them.  But all my apps that sync data are fine, just not sending in data to the Health App.

Obviously not an isolated issue, but still no official fixes.

Hopefully. I just have to keep doing a mix of soft, hard, and the walk around with steps open before restart fix until they get off their butts and fix one of their premo features...

The data isn't missing or deleted, it still exists on the phone in the 3rd party app's database.  The problem seems to be that Health Kit App loses the ability to either load and display that information or it can't read the source data.

Rebooting the phone works intermittently.  This problem must be solved by an update from Apple.

I installed it. So far so good. But as we know, sometimes it takes a while for the data to magically disappear.

At least my dashboard has something on it now.  It seems the Health Kit App needs to remain open for at least 30minute to do something(calculate all the data, maybe?) then finally it will show the graphs.  I currently have Steps, and heart rate.  I was tracking heart rate with a MIO bluetooth watch.  Each time you switch between, day, week, month, year, it takes another 5-10 minutes to "calculate".  All this processing must be using a lot of power.  I went from 100 percent to less than 20 percent in 30-45mins of updating. (or rather I just was leaving health kit open, waiting)  I'm glad to see all my data is still there.  I'm sure this will get better from here.  I did nothing special beyond 8.1 update.  I am no longer willing to go to Apple's quick fixes.  (restore from backup, delete network settings)  It's just too much work for too little payoff.  For now it appears to work, but not well.  I'm half wondering if i need a new iPhone to really use this.  (i have an iPhone 5S)

Installed 8.1. So far so good. I'm going to give it like a week to see if this dumb issue comes back before I consider this issue resolved.

A little more than a day now with release 8.1 installed and still working!  I've got my fingers crossed that they fixed the issue and so far this is the longest the dashboard has run ... so maybe!

Hmm for me 8.1 did not solve the issue. Still no data is displayed. I also can't add data manually. inhave now Steps and Flights Climbed permanently pinned to my dashboard. Whatever I change after the next restart it is back to steps and flights climbed.

Is there any way of somehow resetting the whole health app and data?

what I also recognized: I have myfitnespal connected to health. If I uninstall it, it still appears in the sources section but without logo and real name. It just displayes: com.myfitnesspal.mfp

so if someone still has any idea ?

I Dont think 8.1 resolved anything. On the healthapp, when cycling, nothing ever shows up there, since day one. And as far as flights climbed, it is never accurate. I will climb 10'flights and the healthapp shows 5 or 2, whatever it feels like. And as far as my fitness pal, they still have issues and from talking to their customer support they are aware of the issues and are working on them, it still displays double entries for everything, so its useless for me right now. This has so much potential but to wait and wait for apple or MFP to do something is very aggravating.

I agree that 8.1 didn't resolve anything with Health.  Mine does seem to lock up less, but nevertheless, it still locks up.  MyFitnessPal and my Withings tracker have been working flawlessly with health as long as health keeps running.  When things don't show up, I have to shutdown and restart the iPhone to get everything back to normal.  Initially I was doing this 6 or 7 times a day.  Now it's down to once or twice.

The only and current solution for the issue is:

    1) Backup via iTunes. Make sure Encrypt iPhone Backup is unchecked.

    2) Restore iOS 8.1 firmware.

This way all data stored in the Health app can be neglected from the backup, so none of the bad data will be recovered during the restore process.

Health data can be imported again from the relevant apps after granting permissions.
