I got a new iPhone6 Plus and forgot about the Control Center. Go to any screen and then swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Along with various controls you'll see the rotation lock control (lock in a circular arrow). Press on that to lock/unlock rotation. Also, in iPhone 6 Plus rotate only works in Standard view.

My wife and I both got iPhone 6. I've noticed that both work fine for about a day and a half. Then the screen rotation stops working. Turning them off and back on solves the problem. It was happening in iOS 8 and 8.0.2. Get in the habit of restarting your iPhone every morning or every other morning until a fix is released.

My wife's iPhone 6 had the same problem. We ended up taking it to the Apple store and they replaced it with a new unit. The new one does not exhibit any of these problems so I'm wondering if it's just a bad batch of phones that were shipped.They had never seen it at that store before.

My wife and I actually got our iPhones at different times, hers at the ATT store on 9/20, mine was ordered from Apple online a week later and shipped direct to me from China. I received it on 10/2 and on 10/4 it would not rotate. If it was a bad batch, then they are still making them that way. We also have occasional problems with them not connecting to wifi, or not finding any wifi networks, and we have to reboot. Reboots always fix it, but my old 4S was on for months without these problems.

Check for in the status bar. If you see this icon, Orientation Lock is on. To turn it off, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center and tap .

Dammit! Same problem here. Sure hopes 8.1 has this one resolved.
