Why do i get a message from myself when i send my wife a text message?

I am getting my own text messages sent back to me on a group. Example, if I send a message to two people and they respond. Now I get a new group category where there are three involved including myself. Every time I send a message I receive the same message from myself back and they get it twice. This just started. What is going on? My outgoing will be a color of green or blue depending on if everyone is on iphone and I will get what looks like a response in grey from myself on the other side of the screen that is my message I sent out.

I think if his wife was getting iMessages intended for his girlfriend, he'd have bigger problems.

OP, simply make sure that you are not both using the same Apple ID under Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.

It could be as simple as looking at Settings>Messages>Send and Receive From ...Look and see what phone numbers and email addresses are checked with a blue check mark. Click on any on your phone that are actually not yours. Same with her iPhone.

Turn off iMessage on both devices.

Restart the devices.

Try sending text messages again.

If it still sends to both phones, and they send as green bubbles, contact your carrier.

IIt could be that you use the same Apple ID on your phone. By enabling iMessage on an iPhone your phone number will be set to default sender. if your girlfriend do this using your apple id it will appear a message if you would add the new number to your account. If you accept You get all messages send to your girlfriend. Disable the number or e-mail from your girlfriend in iMessage setting.

IIs the send button green or blue? If it's blue it's using Imessage. Try to disable and enable the iMessage service on both phones with your Apple id. Then uncheck the phone number of your girlfriend if it's checked.
