slow motion lost after sync from mac to iphone

Hi,

I can capture videos in slow motion but those videos play at normal speed once Sync them via iTunes.

1. Capture videos in slow motion.

2. The videos first play in slow motion in the iPhone. There is a time line slider to move the slo-mo effect back and forth.

3. I do a back-up via iTunes including videos.

4. After syncing, the videos in the iPhone appear in one album called "Slo-Mo".

5. In the thumbnail of the video clip I can see the small dial icon that all other slow motion videos have.

6. Playing the video shows a normal speed clip without the timeline slider under the video frames view.

The videos DO retain the slo-mo "effect" in Aperture and iPhoto also. Not in the iPhone after syncing.

Any hints to solve this? thanks

Uploading the broken slo-mo, from your phones slo-mo album to Dropbox, then downloading the same file to your camera roll works.

I say 'works' - but you'll have 2 copies of the same video in the slo-mo album. The downloaded one will work the original, not!

This may be of use when you only have the one device to hand. Obviously an internet connection is required.😉

That's a little harsh iamhiren but I understand your point. This has been a "bug" since Apple brought the slo-mo feature to the iPhone. I see all of these work-arounds that work but why should we have to work around something that should have been addressed by now? It's like no one cares to read these discussion boards. It needs to be addressed asap and fixed. It's ridiculous to have spent all of this money on Apple products and have something this simple not be fixed yet.

I also have 2 copies of the same video in my slo-mo folder, one that plays in slo-mo and the other that doesn't.

For me it's the other way around though: the one that's from the camera roll (which never left the iPhone) plays in slo-mo; the one that's been copied back to the phone from my Mac doesn't play in slow motion.

...

For me, the quickest workaround to the slow-mo syncing issue is this: don't delete your slow mo videos from the camera roll after importing them to your mac. Keep the original on your phone.

Obviously, the downside is that it means you'll have two copies of the video in the slo-mo folder, one copy that works and another that doesn't play slo-mo (if, that is, the video is in an album that syncs from your computer to phone).

Either way, the issue still isn't fixed, and I'm running iOS 9.3.3 on an iPhone SE and the Photos App in OS 10.11.6.

I finally gave in and decided to pay $0.99/month for 50GB iCloud storage and turned on iCloud Photo Library and everything works great and my 40GB library only takes up about 6GB on my phone.

Apple obviously wants everyone to move to this route and has no intention of fixing these issues and I still hate them for that. For as much as they charge for their devices, their software should work flawlessly, and the fact that this hasn't been fixed since iOS 8 is a joke and a slap in the face to their customers.

Same issue.

Attach iPhone to Mac

Import all photos from "Camera Roll" including videos.

Delete photos after import (from "Camera Roll").

Make my events in iPhoto, placing the correct "Slo Mo" Videos in the proper events. (Slow Mo works in iPhoto and QuickTIme)

Sync with iTunes - Include Videos.

Slow Mo Videos in the "Slo Mo" smart album on iPhone, but play at real time speeds.

Now using iOS 10 and iPhone 7.

😟

Tomorrow will be 2 years since the original post, still nothing has changed. I'm incredibly frustrated with this issue.

We've had multiple OS upgrades, multiple iTunes upgrades, and new devices. Why hasn't this been fixed!?!?!?

Has anyone gone to a Genius Bar and asked what they have to say? I'd like hear the script they've been given to fob us off with.

I had the same issue with my iMac/iPhone/iPad...

Now i found the solution!!

Since i switch on the "iCloud Photo Library" the slo-mo "effect" is back on all my portable devices.

For sure it should work with iTunes-Sync too!!

Maybe it's not the solution for everybody...(if you won't use the iCloud and so on...) but for me it works. I was looking for a better Photo user experience and its great now!

Hope i cloud help you with this comment...
