I had problems after letting IOS 8.0 install including getting a blank screen and losing wifi. I hoped updating to 8.0.2 would fix some identified problems. The install failed and wouldn't progress so I tried ,to reinstall as a new phone. This wouldn't complete so now the phone is totally dead. ITunes won't see it and nor will my PC. I've given up unless you have any ideas.

It may help to try putting your iPhone into recovery mode, then update via iTunes.

I've been through this already and am familiar with the process. I've tried all the recovery modes. Also the power/ power&home / home sequence. It wouldn't complete a restore without the error saying it hasn't been set up (with a black screen) before it totally died- powerless and not charging or being recognised. I don't have anything unusual installed since I only ever used it as a phone. Also discharged very quickly at the time and nothing I've tried since gets it enough power for the PC to recognise it. I've got to get a new phone since I've spent to much time on it - just won't be an apple.
