Can Macs print on Sharp Printers?

Wasn't sure if this was an OSX or computer post...

I use my MBP at work with Parallels / Win7 to run a proprietary windows based application.

Everyone uses PCs except me and everyone can print to our Sharp printer except me.

I've gone to Sharp's site and downloaded the printer driver. When I print, I seem to connect to

the printer. I hear the motor start running but nothing prints.

Is it possible that Macs and Sharps are incompatible? Or might it be a Parallels /Win7/ Mac/ Sharp issue?

Today I will try to print from the Mac side and not the Windows Virtual Machine to test.

Thx,

Parallels usually uses the printer driver that's on the Mac - I would suggest looking for a Mac version of the Sharp driver and install it on the Mac side. It should then come up as a printer option in Parallels/Windows.

Not sure that this will work for you, but it works for me - I have no printer drivers that I've installed in Parallels.

Yup. Went to Sharp and dwnld their Mac driver for the printer and didn't work. I called AppleCare and they told me Apple and Sharp printers are incompatible which I never heard before, but I also never tried to interact with a sharp printer before. So all this is new to me.

Working with Parallels Tech SUpport, we tried to print to my HP 1200 Laser printer at home on both the Mac and Windows Virtual Machine side and both printed. Since the HP is not wireless I had to USB to it. But it printed.

The Sharp is wireless so could be that or the Sharp itself. Tomorrow I will try printing from the Mac side to the Sharp which I haven't tried. If it doesn't work, then it could be the driver, the WiFi or ????
