iTunes Artwork size to 2,048x 2,048? No More .PNG?

Can someone confirm that iTunes artwork is going to change to 1,400 x 1,400 min and 2,048 x 2,048 max with .png files being rejected? I have seen some people quoting emails but no official confirmation from Apple.

Thanks in advance.

It's certain that 1400 x 1400 px is the minimum accepted (despite the error message you get if it's smaller telling you it must be 600 x 600). I've seen nothing to suggest that PNGs aren't accepted but as the file size must be less than 500kB I would suggest sticking to JPG anyway as they are smaller.

There is no point whatever in going any larger than 1400 x 1400 - a 2048 x 2048 image won't be displayed at anything like that size anyway.

Hello,

Cover art must be in the JPEG or PNG file formats and in the RGB color space with a minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels and a maximum size of 2048 x 2048 pixels. Note that these requirements are different from the standard RSS image tag specification.

Please update your podcast and/or episode cover art to meet these specifications. Once updated, please allow 24 hours for the changes to be reflected in the iTunes Store.

Regards,

Kyle
