I purchased an unlocked at&t iphone 4s a while back and currently use it with t-mobile. I've decided to upgrade and sell the phone, but I'm wondering if the phone will still be unlocked after I remove the sim card or will it still have to be used with tmobile?

However... a phone that was hacked to unlock will almost certainly re-lock whenever it's updated or restored.
I actually restored the phone about a week ago and once it rebooted a message saying "congratulations your iphone is unlocked" showed up on itunes, so would that mean that it was factory unlocked? or is there still a chance of it having been hacked to unlock?
Did AT&T approve the unlock? If so, it's legit.
The "congratulations...." message is what is seen as the final step of the official unlocking process, when you restore. Don't know what the hacks say, but most likely it's official, particularly if the unlock survived restoring. The only way to know for sure is if AT&T did the unlocking.
