iPhone 4S Battery drains quickly with iOS 8

My iPhone 4S battery drains very quickly after the iOS 8 update. Below are the settings of my iPhone 4S

1 Location Services - OFF

2.Background App Refresh - OFF

3.Brightness - Auto-Brightness

4.Bluetooth - OFF

5.Wi-Fi - OFF

6.3G - OFF

7.Mail Push Notifications - Manual

8.Mobile Data - ON

Almost all the sites suggest to check the Battery Usage, new feature in iOS 8 but that always shows the Phone, Home & Lock

Screen and other apps which I use daily. Whatever the app I open in a day that makes the battery drain fast and that is hat listed in

Battery Usage.

After around 2 hours of usage daily, battery comes below 10% and the phone is switched off. I don't have problem with slower

response from iOS 8 in 4S but I did not know that it would kill my battery this much fast. iOS 8.0.2 also did not address solution to

this problem. Very frustrated 😟

I have the same problem.

Have tried all suggestions from different FAQ.s with no solution.

Yesterday I restored my Iphone 4s from scratch to make shure there is no "hidden" setting or software "bug" from my backup that induce this problem.

Conclusion, battery still drains out much faster than it should.

There is some inbuilt problem with the software in how it handles apps or backround processing during home and lock.

As the only active connection type is mobile network the problem is related to that or in the IOS 8 core in it self.

2G or 3g has no influence in this matter nor has roaming significantly.

Hopefully this will be fixed in 8.0.3 as some other matters.

Not only I did all the steps you describe rajaseelanj, but I even change the battery of my iPhone 4s! No change, it is still "Home & Lock Screen" that drains out the battery, i.e. iOS 8.

I am not very optimistic about Apple solving this problem in 8.1, this problem is not very much reported on the specialised press (which rather talks about the ridiculous "bend-gate"...). One could could even think that this is a good strategy for pushing us buying an iPhone 6... Hopefully I'm wrong. But if it turns out to be true, then my new phone will be a Motorola Moto X, not an iPhone 6

The problem seems to be in the way IOS 8 handles cellular communication, because my "other iphone" of same model stays standby for few days without sim card in it. Then there is not so many ways to make change in how cellular processing in IOS is running, so one is stick with it.

Battery drain problem is not the first of its kind with IOS OS.

The sad part is that theese kind of problems get less intrest by Apple atleast what comes to information about. I noticed the same on my ipad second gen 3g model, but not on my ipad mini 1.st gen, atleast not in same extend.

Propably, if noticed at Apple the fix comes in X,1 update and as said, lets hope they fix it.

It is only a string of code needed here in the right point.

I was so excited to update to IOS8 but just after i did i was unable to boot my PHONEUser uploaded file so i ended up in restoring it and unfortunately loosing lot of my pictures of size 30 GB.

After i restored it was notable how slow the OS works on the device, I was totally frustrated and almost lost hope and decided to live with it since downgrade is not possible. After lot of research and trails i ended up figuring it out in 4 easy steps.

I believe that there is notting wrong with IOS8 and this issue of being slow can be easily solved please refer to the video link below, it worked perfectly with me

How to Boost your Iphone 4s with slow IOS 8 HD …working 100 percent!!!

Once the animation is decreased eventually your battery life will be enhanced.

Waiting to hear if this solved your issue.

Decrease of animation did no change. This is a matter of how cellular is handled in IOS 8. The only thing that spare battery is turning off cellular data.

I updated the new Ios 8.1 and the battery draining is somewhat less than in 8.0x versions, but still the battery does not keep out as in Ios 7.

I use mostly notes, kalender, contacts messages and onenote in cloud, theese all need cellular if to be instant updated. If not ( cellular turned off ) one has to remeber to switch cellular or wifi on for updates to run. I really hope Apple takes a minute or two to fix this issue.

Hi.

Installed the latest update today IOS 8.1.1. Battery full charged this morning around 9.00 am. with update done.

Untill this moment my battery shows half "full" with cellulardata on all day.

This meens this fix actually made a big difference from what th battery lasted with 8.1.

If you have not updated yet, maybe you should, and give some feedback, so that "host" dadapply sees if there is some action around or not, even if there has been no mentory commenting on this one.

Will test next the battery with cellular off...

Yeah I have experienced the same issue with my 4s and IOS 8.

Before the update my phone could last a 12 hour day with between 50-60% left on the battery. After the update the battery life has greatly diminished.

Every day after the software update my battery in two hours will show between 60-70% then if I checked weather or snapped a picture I would get an alert for low battery at 10% and the amount will show 1% then start shutting down the phone.

When I start to charge it, it will start up again then show 60% again. I brought this to the attention of a Genius at the Apple store and without testing the device said I had a dead battery and there was nothing more he could do. He also dismissed the notion that it could the IOS 8 causing the issue with my phone, which I strongly disagreed and told him it was TOO coincidental after the update. He also suggested to buy a new phone.

I also know three others where I work and are complaining about the very same issue and wished they never updated to IOS 8.

This is what Apple wants, kill off the older phones and force the owners to buy new phones.

IOS 8 DOES NOT WORK ON 4S PHONES

Apple does not allow you to backtrack and reinstall an older system on the 4s so I believe the right thing to do is to just buy the Samsung Galaxy s5 and forget about the iPhone all together.

I guess when you have $160 billion in cash you really don't care what your customer thinks.
