Q: delete old icloud account

I have just upgraded to IOS8 on my iphone 4S and want to delete my icloud account because it has an old email address that no longer exists. I don't remember the password and want to change this to my current email address...I have tried what is posted on threads but it doesn't seem to work for iOS8...what can I do thx.

Try the troubleshooting steps here: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud. If you've already tried changing your Apple ID temporarily (at the end of this article) without success, try signing out and back in with iMessage and FaceTime as outlined in the first section of the article.
