Q: Problem copying files with Seagate 2TB external drive and Voyager Q dock
Just got a Newertech Voyager Q dock and a Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" external drive using Firewire 800 to connect to my iMac using OSX 10.9.4 and am having problems copying files to it. The docking station with the Seagate drive is the last of 5 external drives daisy-chained with Firewire. All other drives seem to be working fine. When I try to copy a file to the Seagate that is any larger than a single jpeg, it locks up or says that estimated time to finish the copy will be 2 days! The strange thing is if I copy a video file to my desktop from one of the other drives, then it easily and perfectly will copy to the Seagate drive from there. And the files work fine once in the Seagate drive.
I've used disk utility to check the Seagate drive and it says it is okay. I've formatted it in Mac OS Extended (journaled). And I've tried copying video files from more than one drive to the seagate. All fail execpt for files copied from the desktop.
Anybody having this kind of problem? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
