This document describes, what happens when the iPhoto Library will be migrated to iOS 8:
Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
Don't enable iCloud Drive, unless you have upgraded the Macs to Yosemite. Don't enable iCloud Photo Library,if you want to sync your photos to your mobile devices using iTunes.

Oct 6, 2014 1:39 PM in response to CraigT1945by alyk,I'm having some strange icloud (not drive) issues having a mini ipad on ios8 and iphone 5 on 7 (and mac on mountain lion). sometimes icloud lists ipad as my only device and there's been sudden confusion about a shared photo stream.
I created the shared album under ios 7, invited one person to subscribe, then yesterday from his ios 7 device, he added two photos to the album. This was after I had updated my ipad to 8.
i can not see the photo (nor have I recd any notifications) on the ios 7 iphone or on the mac.
it seemed like it was related to an apple id hiccup (have one id i use for itunes and one for icloud), so i tried logging out and back in on ipad to no avail. since i've never seen anything of the sort befofe, and have been using shared albums for a couple of years, it must be connected to ios 8. it seems that the 2 os's can not communicate with each other entirely.
