I did try most of the shotgunning outlined there but, moving my iPhone 5 to within two feet line of sight with my headset is not the experience I was looking for with iOS 8.0.2. I have held off updating my wife's iPhone 5 (iOS 7) because it does not have this reduced Bluetooth power issue - just like mine didn't before the update. I can use this headset from across the room with her phone and with my iPad (neither of which have been updated) and with an Android device.
iOS 8 has killed my Bluetooth power output other than that the headset functions as it should.
I just scheduled a Genius session...
