IPHONE 6 This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably

I have the IPhone 6. Bought it last Saturday,Just updated it to the newest 8.0.2 software Friday Sept 26th. No Problems until today, Monday Sept. 29th when Im getting this error .

It started this afternoon and, no i did not and do not have it plugged in. It was charged this morning and was at 57% battery this afternoon when the problem started.

Now I get this messege that keeps poping up over and over "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"

It keeps popping up and i dont have ANYTHING plugged into it.

I called Verizon because thats who i bought it from who put me thru second line for help.

After a bunch of BS and telling me that they have had problems with chargers because of the amplified voltage and wrong plug being sent out which sounds like bull to me because he said the new iphones have a different head on the plug, not the phone side but the end that has the usb connection and goes to the ac outlet, which dont make a lot of sense when you can also plug them into a usb port. I looked at different iphone plugs from the 4s, the 5 and the 6,and they all show the same input and output voltages and amps. Basically nothing that has to do with my problem i am having

Anyway at this point now they are saying something may have happened with the new software when i download it last friday.

So now they had me backup my phone to itunes, and restore the iphone from itunes.

When you do this, itunes will automatically download the new version software, which seems to be taking a long time to download.

I will try to post results later to see if this works......

iPhone 6, iOS 8, software 8.0.2

Thanks..

I saw some post about the lint , no lint, have an otterbox cover,no lifeproof available yet, phone was NOT plugged in when problems began. always charged with original plug. I see other post online having the same issue.besides, for it to be a lint issue, i would think the lint would have to have some sort of conductor to pass along current, and also having iphones for years and no other phone i know of has come across a lint problem.

Not saying its imposible, just hard to believe. IF there are iphones having a lint problem i most certainly would get rid of thethis iphone 6 for being so fragile as to a piece of lint.

not picking on your reply either, just really ticked off that this certainly appears to be a bug in thier updated fix, and hearing so many crazy inputs from lint to wrong plugs being shipped out, its not looking good for apple and their fragile new phone

I've seen it happen a number of times. However, if you've ruled that out, take the phone to your local Apple Store to have it evaluated.

Ok, I did everything I was told to do by second level tech support at verizon. Wiped out my iphone6 reinstalled the new software and still the error exist.

Now I have to take my brand new iphone to the Apple Store so their techs can test it and possibly replace it. I'm betting on this is a software issue. Too many people are having the same error message.

And it appears to be after updating to the 8.0.2.

yes I can see problems happening with broken wires and even a damaged contact to the charger. But I can't go believe lint in the charger would cause the iPhone to give error codes when NOT plugged in. With it plugged in, sure I can see lint causing contacts not to make a good electrical path to the battery causing a high resistance. I guess working on electrical circuits for so many years makes me upset that tech support is coming up with lame excuses for what to me is the result of their latest update.

remember I was not having any problems until I downloaded it.

I am having the exact same problem you are, straight out of the box. Got an iphone6+ this morning and five minutes after I turned it on, it started coming up with the same error as you.

The phone was on ios 8 (not 8.02). I did the upgrade to 8.02 but it still comes up. I'd be very surprised if this is a software problem. I didn't even get to charge it or plug anything in !! Started doing it straight away.

The error comes up even when I have NOTHING plugged it to the phone.

I am very annoyed!!!

If possible could you please let us know what the Apple Tech people say.

thx

David

Same problem here, 6 plus, still on iOS8.0.0 and having the same issue all day long, not plugged in to anything, WiFi or Cellular connection; does not matter, still get the same message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone on display when no cable is connected" when there has not been a cable connected for hours of even days. It shows up in all apps and randomly, cannot figure out what triggers it.

Please post here if anyone hears of a fix.

Ok, I went to the Apple Store today, if you never been to one it's strange. You walk into this shop with people with blue shirts on walking about talking to people . No help desk or place to sign in. So I ask a blue shirt where do I go sign in for an appointment. He directs me to a table of many to go have a seat. While the whole Time I'm watching theses folks all coming in with computer issues and phone issues all being taken care of on the spot. But you better have an appointment, anyway as I'm sitting there a young guy comes and ask if I was Dan. I said yes and he asked what problems I am having. As soon as I turned on the phone I got the **** error message again so he was able to see it. It popped up 3 more times while he did his drags. Long story short I had to order a new phone and should be at the store by Friday.

ANother guy that was waiting told me he is bringing in his second iPhone 6 because of memory problems so basically his 3rd iPhone 6

well let's see what happens friday.

Unfortunatley, you have 2 choices. return the phone or make an appiontment, and you must make an appiontment with the closest apple store in your area, no walk-ins.

As posted here earlier, look in the phones charging port for debris such as pocket lint. Hard to believe but oh well, that was the FIRST thing the guy at the Apple store did. After he saw the error message pop up while he was working on it, that was it. He said it had to be replaced, no repairs can be done.

There was another person here that posted earlier about a "pocket lint" problem. I dont know why it disappeared, but as crazy as that sounds it appears that lint gets in the charging port, but the apple guy said that would only give an error when plugged in.

So if anyone is having that problem, check the port of the phone. Other than that looks like your heading to replace the phone...
