Q: IPHONE 6 This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably

I have the IPhone 6.  Bought it last Saturday,Just updated it to the newest 8.0.2 software Friday Sept 26th. No Problems until today, Monday Sept. 29th when Im getting this error .

It started this afternoon and, no i did not and do not have it plugged in. It was charged this morning and was at 57% battery this afternoon when the problem started.

Now I get this messege that keeps poping up over and over "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"

It keeps popping up and i dont have ANYTHING plugged into it.

I called Verizon because thats who i bought it from who put me thru second line for help.

After a bunch of BS and telling me that they have had problems with chargers because of the amplified voltage and wrong plug being sent out  which sounds like bull to me because he said the new iphones have a different head on the plug, not the phone side but the end that has the usb connection and goes to the ac outlet, which dont make a lot of sense when you can also plug them into a usb port. I looked at different iphone plugs from the 4s, the 5 and the 6,and they all show the same input and output voltages and amps. Basically nothing that has to do with my problem i am having

Anyway at this point now they are saying something may have happened with the new software when i  download it last friday.

So now they had me backup my phone to itunes, and restore the iphone from itunes.

When you do this, itunes will automatically download the new version software, which seems to be taking a long time to download.

I will try to post results later to see if this works......

iPhone 6, iOS 8, software 8.0.2

Try a different USB port and see if that makes any difference. Also, plug your phone into the supplied charger and plug it into a wall socket and see if you still get the same message.

I already tried several plugs and different cables, and different cables in different USB ports.

We have 4 iPhones (6, 5s, 5 & 5c) and 2 iPads between the family so have plenty to try. All my other devices work , but new iPhone doesn't.  Vodafone said they will replace it.  Just got to wait for a call back tomorrow. :-)

Same problem here. It connected to my macbook fine while I was loading music, but now I can't even get it to take a charge! I've tried 2 different cables BOTH from apple and nothing. I guess I only have a matter of time before I can't use it anymore... CRAZY!!!

Did any of you have the problem after trying to sync with a macbook? I was syncing my itunes library when my problem started happening. Want to restore my phone, but my macbook won't even recognize it anymore.

Already tried all of that. I even have an iPad Air that uses the same type of cable and my iPad will work and charge off of the same cable that does not work with my iPhone. Went through the whole troubleshooting process with Apple last night. They told me to take it to an Apple store and just have it replaced after an 1 1/2 hrs of testing.

Update: this morning my phone will connect to my macbook and sync with itunes. It says it is charging, but never takes a charge. It was at 36% and I plugged it into the wall charger (says it's charging) for an hour and it is still on 36%.

i cannot tell you about a charging problem, other than the tech at Apple saying sometimes lint or a foreign object can get into the charging port and cause problems. But mine charged at all times just has the error about not a certificed cable , looks like your going to be heading to the Apple Store. Again as I wrote earlier, if it's giving you the error without it being plugged into anything, it has to be replaced.

All it took for me was a visit to the mobile phone shop where I got the phone (it was a contract), they ordered a replacement phone for me no questions asked. Got a new phone 24h later and everything has been fine.

Try to clean the connector of the phone

Just have got same error on iPhone 6

Took a small screwdriver, put a little bit cotton on it, clean the connector of the phone

    Error has disappeared

Just found an advise (I haven't tried but I hope it works).

This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone iPad fix!

    Method 1:

    1. Plug the USB cable to the wall-charger
    2. Turn off the iPhone and when you see the loading wheel spinning, plug the charger in the iPhone
    3. Let the iPhone be connected to the charger for a while. Don’t switch it on
    4. After about 15 minutes, turn it on your iPhone. Dismiss the warnings
    5. The charging should mostly continue without a problem

    Method 2:

    1. Plug in USB power
to wall-charger
    2. Then connect USB cable to iPhone
    3.
Dismiss any warnings
    4. Unlock your iPhone so you get to the “Home Screen”
    5. Dismiss any remaining warnings
    6. Unplug the fake “Knock Off” USB cable
    7. Followed by plugging it back in.
    8. Dismiss warning again
    9. It should now charge.

I had the same problem, my iPhone 6 was always saying that the cable was not certified without anything conected.

The solution was simple (my brothers idea) I used a hair dryer to inject some FRESH AND STRONG AR (please never do it with hot air)  inside the charger plug and the mesage never came back.
