Oct 2, 2014 7:52 AM in response to zackniazby norm123,★HelpfulHello zackniaz,
If the receiver on your iPhone is low, check out the steps below to see if you can get it sorted out.
iPhone: Receiver and call audio quality issues
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5196
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Increase the volume during the call.
- Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver. If you're using a protective case or display film, remove it and try again.
- Make sure nothing is plugged into the headphone jack or the dock connector.
- Check the receiver opening to see if it is clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
- Try another location with better signal. If the audio issue happens only when on a call, it could be due to the location.
- If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or a car kit, try turning off Bluetooth on your device. Learn more about troubleshooting Bluetooth connections.
- Restart the iPhone.
- Make sure your device is up to date.
- If the issue is not resolved, contact Apple Support.
Regards,
-Norm G.

Oct 11, 2014 1:32 PM in response to zackniazby Kris Au,★HelpfulI've had my iPhone 6 for 2 days and experienced the same problem. A few minor things made a big difference:
1 - I turned on the Hearing Aid Mode. Look for it in Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing Aids (bottom of screen). I don't have a Blue Tooth-enabled device, but just changing it to Hearing Aid Mode made a big difference in volume.
2 - Yes, I had to hold the receiver end of the phone •at• my ear. Yes, I realize that sounds ridiculous, but I was accustomed to holding the smaller 4s closer to my mouth.
I hope this helps.

Oct 23, 2014 5:25 PM in response to sandyfromcoral springsby Stoker,Tried the hearing aid method and turned to on, and that automatically turned off Phone noise Cancellation. If you check back to the Hearing aid area,, it is still on the search for a hearing aid. Does that ever stop when you exit out. I am afraid that by searching for the non existent hearing aid, it is using precious battery power.

Nov 9, 2014 5:37 PM in response to zackniazby Dexter McCord,Go to settings
-celluar
-Check data only
it seems that wifi calling has a factor in this.

Nov 9, 2014 9:20 PM in response to Dexter McCordby Stoker,Not sure what you mean. If I go to my settings, Cellular, I see Cellular Data, then Enable LTE, next is Data Roaming,,, but there is no "Data Only" to check or uncheck. Remember I am using ios8.1. Thanks for clarification in your last statement Dexter.

Nov 28, 2014 4:29 PM in response to zackniazby Scorpiorsh,★HelpfulI Have the exact same problem with my brand new iPhone 6, 64gb, space grey, verizon. This is ridiculous! A brand new phone with a voice receiver that you can barely hear when the volume is all the way up actually passed quality control! You would think this would be one of the most primary quality control check that Apple would do! I did try all the suggestions, including turning Bluetooth off, setting hearing aid mode ON, making sure the voice receiver was not obstructed, etc. I had 3 other iPhone 6 users test it and it's way too low. The speakers work fine, but the voice receiver (hearing the callers voice) is simply too low. At full volume, I'd say it's about a 3-4 on a 10 scale. I can't tell you how disappointing this is after waiting 5 weeks for my phone! My only recourse was to set an appointment with the closest Apple store. I've looked at the Apple Community board and there's lots of problems with this! Apple should track down where the quality control broke down!

Nov 28, 2014 8:26 PM in response to zackniazby Stoker,I had brought mine in to Genius, who seemed to spend more time making sure that my phone wasn't stolen , than showing me there was a diagnosis going on.
He asked if he could take the phone to the back behind closed doors, so as he could communicate and diagnose with fellow workers. He came out telling me that he tried my phone out with another worker, and he thought it was normal, indicating to me that he had iPhone 6 plus, and his had the same volume, which to him appeared normal. He did indicate that if I continue to feel that there was something wrong, that eventually I could have it replaced. I do have Applecare . I left it that, thinking that perhaps I wasn't holding the phone to my ear correctly, or maybe even that was supposed to be the normal volume. There have been a few times after, I admit, where I almost thought (especially in a noisy room, where I like to experiment for volume) perhaps the volume was as strong as it should be. Then, at some point, I would find myself saying, hmm. I still can barely hear the person at the end of the line. I would have to press my ear to the phone so hard sometimes. Other times, I would try and aim the speaker at different parts of my ear, to see if that did the trick. I'm sorry to say, I still feel the volume is inadequate, not matter how you look at it. I do have my volume up to the maximum all the time. I will have to now find other people with the same phone, so as I can compare to see if it really is the norm or not. If it is, I will then have to say that the problem is endemic.
Have any of you that have the same problem tried other peoples iPhone 6 (plus), to experiment? Would be interested to hear

Nov 28, 2014 9:06 PM in response to Stokerby Stoker,Hearing Aid Mode made a big difference in volume. Just tried doing that, and it does make a difference, however, by doing that, it turns off the "Phone Noise Cancellation", which i figure is important enough (should be cancelling background noise to a minimum", so why should I do without that? I figure all the Hearing Aid adjustment is doing is amplifying the sound, and perhaps even distorting the sound a bit, Anybody have a view of my analysis? Also,
please notice that when you are turning on the Hearing Aid mode, it continously is searching for a Device. Isn't that whole process power consuming, and continuously going to consume power while searching, even when you are out of the settings? Thanks for any views of this.

Dec 4, 2014 8:48 PM in response to Stokerby mr. schmitz,I had the same problem too. Went to the apple store and explained my problem. They have given me a replacement but that phone had the same problem. Then they told me it could be the sim card (????). So I went to the phone shop and changed that one too. Result > same problem!! So I went back to the apple store, explained that I'm more than upset and told them that I will a refund. Now I'll use my good old iPhone 4 again!!!

Dec 18, 2014 5:01 PM in response to zackniazby char9949,★HelpfulScroll up from the bottom of the screen. There is a place there to turn up the volume while you are talking on the phone to hear the person you are speaking to much better.
