How to delete the bubble that appears around my video clips whenever I add a transition in final cut x?

It seems that whenever I drop a transition onto a video clip in final cut x it automatically creates a bubble around it. I try to highlight the bubble and delete it but it deletes everything inside it when I am only trying to disconnect it from the clips and transitions. I am also having a hard time finding answers to this issue because I do not know how else to explain it through text so I have attached a screenshot to try to help explain. User uploaded file

unfortunately, the actual forum software Apple's using for this board, has a 'glitch' (has tons of glitches… to be precise) - some see attached pics, some not:

This is how your post comes out:

just a blue square question mark - in case you can not see my attached pic 😝

any chance to upload your screen-shot anywhere else and share the link?

(dropbox, google-drive, flickr, ...)

'cause, I have indeed no idea, what 'a bubble around it' could mean 😉

If I understand correctly, those "bubbles" are what is called "secondary storylines". If you delete a storyline, you delete everything in it, by definition.

This is the way the software is designed, and it is a good thing, IMHO.

I recommend you follow a good tutorial or three and familiarize yourself with these concepts - for example: http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial

ahhh - meanwhile, the forum software released your pic:

why do you want to fade in/out a secondary storyline? lil' use …

just opt-cmd-arrow down your photo-clip to add it to your storyline (where it belongs...) and apply your dissolve - no fuzz, no bubbles.-

(and follow Luis excellent suggestion, to get a bit familiar with FCPX' nomenclature …)

If you want the clips out of the secondary storyline, highlight them and press alt+cmd and the UP arrow - but as everyone's trying to tell you, you'll lose the transition. Connected clips must be in a storyline for transitions to be used on them - so FCP X does this automatically for you.

Learn to use secondary story lines - they're wonderful!
