Removing _xcsbuildd user account

Hello,

since I installed the OSX Server app on my Maverics a mysterious _xcsbuildd User appeared to be permanently logged in and blocking the shutdown of my mac.

I tried to uninstalled OSX Server but the User still appears to be active.

Does someone know how I can get rid of this annoying user?

Regards Andreas

I have the same problem. I have not un-installed OSX server because I use functionalities of Sever. But my console is completely inundated with error messages related to this account. Mainly when watching the system.log it is listing numerous files that it cannot access since they do not exist. One in particular that was bad was when I dug deeper was 'keychain_verify_create_path could not create path: /var/_xcsbuildd/Library/Keychains/C7CB88D2-DB66-5CB0-AE05-A41265168135 (Not a directory)' I went at looked at that keychain directory as ROOT and the Keychains folder was actually a file and not a directory so of course it couldnt write to the directory within. I see this with many other directory as well, namely its a file and not a directory. No idea how the account was so malformed but I havent done anything that should have caused this.

an ls -al of /var/_xcsbuildd/Library/ showed this:

But I just want to be able to restart my machine without having to revert to blunt force methods via terminal.

It makes sense that it cant complete its tasks since it doesnt have access to directories it needs but come on. Do I really need to delete those files so that they get recreated correctly?

I have this same problem with the same config (MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)).

An additional problem that started occurring alongside this is that my computer falls asleep a few seconds after logging in. This only happens after waking from sleep, so a restart fixes the problem (as long as I don't put the laptop back to sleep, since the problem will start up again on waking), but I can only restart with sudo reboot.

Since uninstalling OS X Server, won't fix this problem, I'll wait for an alternative solution.

AndreasTextunes, is there an Uninstaller application you used to remove the server? I see the following folder in the Application, but I don't know what those programs do:

/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/ServerSetup/Uninstal lExtras

Hello,

I had the same problem and I think I have found a solution :

  • in the OS X Server control panel, disable Xcode service if it is enabled (I assume you are not using the group development feature of Xcode)
  • go to /System/Library/LaunchDaemons and execute "sudo rm com.apple.xcs*"
  • not mandatory, but for a "clean work" : open System Preferences, Users and Groups, suppress all "spurious" Admin accounts.
  • reboot

It seems to be OK for me even after a couple of reboot.

Hope this helps.
