How to enable HFP Prompts in iOS 8?

I must be having a senior moment today, but what are HFP Prompts?

Thank you. I wasn't really aware of that, since I my vehicle has a full navigation system, so I don't use the phone. I've only used the phone when a passenger in another car that doesn't have navigation and/or Bluetooth, so I wouldn't have seen that. An update for me to file away.

On the other hand my 10 year old Honda doesn't come equipped with any of that (I DO have a cassette player however 😝 )

When I updated to IOS 8, I opened maps and started a route while in my car and it presented the HFP option to me. But I can't ever find it in any settings menu since (guess if I wanted to turn it off that would be too bad). This was on a 4S. I didn't know about this in 7.1, so I hadn't been using navigation for a while.

So you might try starting directions from maps while connected to your car, if you haven't already done it that way.

Even with that on, handsfree directions don't work for me though (I've posted about this in another thread).

The option to turn on and off HFP prompts is still available but like siri-us-ly stated it is only available in the maps application. While connected to the bluetooth in your car start a route in the maps application and select the audio icon in the bottom right. (It should have a bluetooth icon next to it as well.) There you should see the features for volume level, the output source for the volume, and a toggle switch for HFP prompts. I hope this helps.
