Mail swipe feature - Problem

Is there a way to disable the swipe feature in Mail on the itouch/iphone. It is set up to allow for more/flag/archive (or more/flag/delete). I never delete emails, but i do flag important ones often. So my problem is that a partial swipe brings up the three options and puts two very opposite options right next to each other. Flag and Trash. That seems like a poor choice, design wise. A slight miss with my finger placement and an important email disappears from my inbox. Bad design in my view. This was true of the previous version too but it was a drop down list with the same problem of two very opposite options right next to each other.

is there a way to allow for quick flagging but not risking deleting the same email.

thanks

Hello Frederick,

There is not a way to turn off the swipe all the way to delete, but I do have an idea for you if you constantly flag items. What you can do is go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Swipe Options and change the flag option to swipe left so that way you have a quick way to flag messages by swiping left and you wouldn’t even need to tap Flag, just swipe and it is done.

Hi Norm. i did discover this in my searching. I set it up to flag with a rightward swipe and to do nothing with a leftward partial. This still leaves the issue of swiping in the wrong direction and getting a delete or archive. Again, the opposite of what i want to do. They should put a confirm to delete/archive or an option to do nothing on the full swipe in either direction. That would avoid any mistakes. Seems a design flaw in my view as i run the risk of deleting/archiving (either way it is gone from my inbox and i can loose a clients order!) if i do the wrong single action and i may not even be aware of the mistake.

thanks for the help though.
