Recently in the facebook app a new drop down notification started coming down. How do you stop it? It's only on Apple products so I figured I would try here.
II'm having this same problem!! I've tried all day and turned on and off every notification but it's always there when I check the app! It's really annoying. Hope they change it soon

Looks like the only notifications you can "block" are those from sources you have had to see at least one time.
II understand that. I'm well aware. But they take forever to respond so I asked just in case someone knew.
I don't have the Facebook App but the setting on an iPhone/iPad is likely in Settings > Notifications.
If the notice is only inside the app itself you could also check to see if there is a Settings > Facebook.
Are you seeing this "drop down" notification only in the FaceBook app or does it appear on the ?Home screen or other apps?
if the drop down is showing on the Home screen and all apps then you have that kind of Notification turned on in Settings. Use the Settings app to turn it off.
Settings > Notifications > FaceBook > check the various options there to limit the Notifications you allow from FaceBook.
This is something that doesn't use iOS's built in notification system, so you'll have to see if Facebook lets you turn this off from within the app. Have you poked around More > Settings > Notifications?

I think the problem is that Facebook doesn't want people to be able to turn off the notifications. It lets them insert advertisements into your news feed. Guess we have to live with it for now.
